May Happenings

The weeks kind of roll together. Monday and Wednesday nights we head to Ames for taekwondo and Krav Maga classes. Some nights we take a sack lunch and some nights we eat out. Some nights are sunny and warm, others are storming and raining. The first week of May was lightning storms and not long ago it was snowing and now 70 and 80 degrees. During the week the boys had a homeschool art class on drawing animals. Both boys had some awesome drawings, Jake a wolf and Luke a fox and a horse. They really enjoyed the class.
Mark and I had a date night because he got rained out of the field. He was tired from planting and I was stressed from homeschool and we both needed it. We had a half hour massage and went out to dinner. Jayden took her brothers to 209 Main so she didnt have to cook.
The first of May Orrie had knee surgery and we went down to see him the following day. He never stopped talking to the nurses the whole time we were there. 5 different nurses came in and out and he told us all about them. I think he likes all the attention. Once he was back home the boys took turns helping Grandpa. Luke is very compassionate and takes to helping. Maybe that is something that will follow him into a career someday.
Saturday Abby had her bridal shower. It was really fun with all the cousins and no boys/boyfriends. It kind of felt like old times for awhile. All the girls could just be themselves and talk with each other and were genuine. Then the boyfriends showed up...
Jake got to hang out with Jake, Zach, and Riley during the shower. He loved every minute of it. He doesn't get to be at the Ferrari's often, I asked if he could be there during the shower so he could go home with Grandma Connie. He and I wish he could spend more time there.

This month Luke, Jayden, and I  attended Alivia's dance recital in Webster City. They put on such an awesome recital with a lot of talent. My only complaint is that each of the classes perform for such a short amount of time. Some of the routines weren't even a minute long. All the practice, costume expense, and time put into dance class and there performance is so short. Alivia was in a tumbling class this year.

Luke also had his recital this month with his guitar. He had been practicing and working on "Sweet Home Alabama." He performed in front of other lesson families and Carina, Alivia, and my parents.

Here is Jayden and her friends, they like selfies!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
