Monday I met with some Cornerstone church friends for lunch in Boone. It was nice to sit with them and and have great conversations.
Tuesday Jayden's youth group leader and daughter came out to experience a day on the farm. They have had very little exposure to farm life so we showed them around, did some animal chores, did a little roping lesson, drove the Gator, and had lunch. I think they really enjoyed it. I am continually amazed at how anyone from Iowa can have no exposure to a farm.
Monday and Wed Jayden and I did our Krav class. It has been a little more challenging this week. There are new people joining the class. They are not new to the class but have been gone for awhile. They are experienced and strong men that don't really hold back. We have such a big class averaging between 12 to 15 each time, so many that I cannot learn names. Jayden and I have nicknames. The newest addition I call Drill Sargent, we later found out he is an Ames cop. He is very strong and somehow I managed to be his pad holder. He puts everything he's got into his punches and about takes me with it. He hits the pad so hard it makes my jaw jar. Kicking the pad is pretty rough too. Somehow I managed to have him in my group while practicing counter attacks and he took me to the ground. No mercy! Most people in the class take it easy on us newbies. I feel like I am somewhat strong and aggressive. Luke tells me I look aggressive. A few of the girls are pretty light and don't put a lot of muscle into it. The others in the class: the ultimate fighter girl, mini van mom, ballerina, sorority girl, gymnast, cheerleader, roller skater, and muscles, for girls. Army Burly guy, drill sergeant, bearded guy, diary farmer, Mario, and Mexican headband guy . It is a fun bunch, friendly people, tough workout, and great exercise. I worried my shoulders, back or neck would hurt. I feel better than when I am doing nothing. It is also very fulfilling to know you are gaining muscle, and self defense strategy. I also love that Jayden and I are doing it together. We talk about it all the way home.
Thursday I took Daisy and a couple of cats to the vet. Afterward I took Daisy to a dog wash. That is a newer thing, part of the car wash has a little room where you can wash your dog. Can you believe it costs more to wash your dog than your car? Something is very wrong with that.
It has been an amazing week. Sunshine everyday and temps in the 6o's and 70's. oh how I appreciate it when it has been so long! The sun feels awesome and it hasn't even been windy. WE had a short school morning every day this week. I guess you could say we used some of our snow days. It was just beautiful outside and we got to enjoy it.
We have had a lot of mud in April shich made for very dirty horses. With their heavy winter hair cut and mud cacked on, we had to give baths just to get a saddle on. Poor Summer, she loved to sleep in the mud and was a caked mud mess for the past 3 months.
