Horse Injury

Horses just have a way of getting into trouble and getting hurt. It just goes along with their nature. Unfortunately we have gotten to experience more than our share in the past year. We have made way too many trips to the vet. On a Saturday morning while Jayden was doing chores, she had an incident. She had given the grey horse a bath the night before and he was in a stall. She pulled him out of the stall and tied him. He was pulling back and got himself loose and took off. He ran all over the yard and along the fence line of the horse pens. The young horse pen with Joker, Summer, and Tiny, got pretty excited and began running back and forth from one end to the other slamming into the fences. Joker got himself into a running rampage and he decided to jump out of his pen.Of all the places in his pen, he picked the worst place he could to jump. He jumped over a steel jagged post. I happened to be in the house and looking out, I saw Joker running around in the pasture. It didn't take

Happy Birthday Luke #10

Luke can be very serious especially with people he doesn't know and it's hard to get him to crack a smile. He is very mature and talks like a little man. He can be silly and goofy, happy go lucky and gets along with about everyone. At home, he tends to be emotional. His knowledge of trucks, cars, tractors, semis, and farm equipment is quite impressive. He really doesn't miss much. Like a sponge, he can soak in information and has a great memory. Math comes easily and he works hard at his school and is pretty independent with his work. He is determined and works hard, guitar and taekwondo are hard, but he doesn't give up and keeps working at it. Luke turned 10 on a Tuesday. He got the day off school and spent almost all of it in front of a screen. He woke up and got to open his gift. He was super excited and pretty shocked to get an XBOX 360. His jaw dropped! We have had an original XBOX for 15 years. There have been dozens of modern popular game consoles created since

Winter Rodeo

Winter Rodeo Fun...    The Nelson family invited us again this year to attend the World's Toughest Rodeo in Des Moines. They had access to a VIP suite and extra tickets. I was excited to go and get out of the house. This year both our families were able to attend, plus Brinna who was spending the weekend with us. We decided to meet ahead at Texas Roadhouse for dinner before the rodeo. It was a very busy restaurant, good food and good conversation. The rodeo was nice with our private suite. The kids all are such good friends, they were excited to be together. The rodeo contestants had to have certain qualifications, such as only pro runners and many come from all over to compete in bulls, broncs, and barrel racing. Frankie ran barrels and ended up second. We got to see Wade Sundell ride and once again win the whole rodeo. He rides so smooth and effortless. Dalton Krantz won the bull riding. He is a local cowboy that went to school with Jayden and used to be in the Wranglers saddle

Rolling In The New Year 2018

BITTER COLD & Sick to start to the year... January didn't roll in with sunshine and good health. In fact half of our family was still sick, fighting off colds and on antibiotics. I decided I didn't need antibiotics and tried to tough it out. All I had was  a head cold. In the mornings I would cough and other than that felt fine, but it just lingered on and on. So did the cold temperatures. The temps stayed low and in the negatives for the first week in January. The wind chills got down to -30's. It was just bitter. It was so cold we let Daisy in the garage. That didn't seem enough, she was shivering, so I put a heating pad under her and covered her in a blanket. I did this for several days. She is too old for this kind of cold. I know she appreciated it and felt a bit pampered. Tuff and the cats would help keep her warm too.  The 7th  of January, we finally got our heat wave and it felt so refreshing to be outside. It go up to 38 degrees!! Praise the Lord for a bre
