When the ground was just about fit to combine, once again the rain came. Yesterday was gloomy and misty all day. This morning there was a heavy fog and soon thunder and light rain. Tomorrow there is a 90% chance of rain. The rain is keeping the mood gloomy and the farmers anxious. Mark's nerves are about shot. Waiting and watching the weather and knowing that time keeps ticking drawing closer to winter is hard for him.
This week we had our usual Monday and Wednesday taekwondo classes.
Jayden has been riding her new horses. My first impressions of these horses are: the palomino filly is only 2, she is pretty colored with cool eyes. She is sweet and has a very good handle. She is already well broke, walks, trots, lopes, pivots, and is very quiet. The grey horse seems to have a lot of energy. When ridden he is full of energy and seems to want to just run. He gets faster and faster and looks like he would get hot super easy. He is timid and acts as though he has been abused and doesn't trust you. He has the look of fear and uncertainty. Jayden told me he is very touchy. She told me she had a horse whisperer moment. She put her hands on the horse and told him she would never hurt him. He dropped his head, sighed, and licked his lips. I am not a big fan of all these extra horses. I know that Jayden is learning considerable amounts by training on them and I think that is good for her. I am always concerned first for her safety and it gives me more to worry about. It also adds to the amount of chores, hay, feed, vet, and farrier bills. It is more time Jayden spends on horses and it is hard on her body. With the rainy days, it has given Mark a chance to do some riding with Jayden too.
Out with the old and in with the new, this week Jayden got a new bedroom set. Her original set was all white. Her white bed was from the bunk bed she shared with Allie from age 3. The white night stand and dresser were parts from my original bedroom set or pieces that matched, over thirty years old. I should have updated her room sooner. She will only get to fully enjoy it for about a year. She will have it to come home to in the future and it will stay. The furniture is a brown gray rustic looking set. After some shopping, Jayden picked the decor of white and pink with lots of fun pillows. It doesn't look like a little girl room any more, sure looks nice.
