Our family cut cable tv several years ago. One of the channels I used to watch was TLC. It had heartwarming shows such as A Baby Story, Adoption Stories, and Wedding Stories. They were pretty sweet, feel good stories and shows. It has been years since I watched that channel and recently in a hotel I tuned in. Things have changed so much, it was kind of a shock and awe experience. The stories now are Breaking Amish, a disturbing group of Amish kids that have gone off the deep end. It is a reality show about their reckless lifestyles of drugs, alcohol, profane language, sex, gays, you name it. They talk about how they used to think they had to follow the bible, and now live out every rebellious way they can possible in rejection. Another show is about pet owners adopting, however there is more focus on the pets two owners being the dogs two daddies than on the pets. They really make a point to show their lifestyle more than about the pet. Another show that shocked me was a reality show about a house full of gay men seeking to find the bachelor of their dreams. Talk about disturbing. The previews were enough to make you sick. Why is the media smothering us with this lifestyle and leaving little to the imagination? I wish there were family friendly christian media stations? As I sit in waiting rooms, I pick up random magazines. As I flip through the pages I see more and more same sex couples embracing. I see it in public more. The men are the worst, they seem to love attention. They are overly dramatic as if to say look at me I am gay. They talk feminine with a very loud high voice and wear clothing that leaves no question. I just wish people could be private about their lifestyle.
I heard an excellent message on homosexuality by a Cornerstone pastor. He explained that there is a gap between what the bible says and what our culture says. As time goes, that gap gets farther away from the bible truth and what culture sees as right. That gap is growing and I fear what it will look like when our kids are older. I fear what they will go through. He also explained how much harder it will be for Christians to stay strong in their faith. As the gap grows, the Christians become the outcasts, the ones who are wrong. As believers we can love the sinner and not the sin. We are to treat others fairly and love all, that doesnt mean it is right or it is ok. We do not have to condone the behavior. Ultimately it is wrong and those living the gay lifestyle are living in sin. Without repenting from their sin they will not enter God's kingdom, and that only leaves one place for them.
