My parents planned a Hawaii trip to celebrate their 50th anniversary early. The plan was for all the families, however with the new baby in the family, just my family was able to go. We were all very excited. My parents had already been in Maui for the past couple weeks. They had their own condo and we would stay with them the first night, then the remaining at Aston Kaanopoli. My parents generously paid for one of those nights.
We left home at 5AM, flew out at 7:40, had a layover in Arizona, the landed in Maui at 4:00. Off the plane, the warm air was so refreshing. The airport was open and you could feel the air and smell it. We were excited! We rented our car and drove, taking in the scenery all the way. We stopped and pulled over when we all spotted our first whales. At my parents condo Grandpa was grilling burgers and fixing our supper. He really knows how to grill the best burgers. We unloaded our luggage, rolled up our pant legs and took off our shoes and socks to feel the sand on our feet. We went out along the ocean to take it all in. The frequent visiting seav turtle my parents had been watching, was there to greet us. We got to see the big amazing creature, after that he didn't show again. The boys ran and dug in the sand and let the ocean waves chase them. The sand felt so great on our feet! We were in Maui, wahoo! It is like a taste of heaven, it sure is paradise. We were all tired and ready to crash by 9, which would be 1AM back home. In the wee hours of the night, a rooster crowed several times and again in the morning. That wasnt too pleasant.
