Maui Day 5

It was a rainy morning in Hawaii and the forecast showed rain most of the day. we thought this would be a good day to hit some of the downtown shops. Mark was up early and did his morning elliptical exercise, followed by an hour long Maui massage. I told Mark I would rather spend the money from a massage on some shopping. I made a morning stop at the farmer's market to get some more goodies for our room. I got more fresh fruit along with pineapple salsa and pineapple bagels. The kids went with  and managed to miss a down pour . We got lucky to miss the rain and made it back to our hotel just in time for more rain. It was a 3 block walk. We headed to the Lahaina shops, as did everyone else on the island. it was very busy and parking was an issue. The rain had stopped for the time that we shopped too. We were able to explore the giant Banyan tree in the park before splitting up girls and guys. Luke met and gave a star to a veteran who was very kind. Jayden frequented her new Maui coffee shop with a funny name, to get an iced coffee. She claimed they were the best ever. The boys all went to museums in the area while us girls shopped. We all met at noon at Bubba Gump Shrimp. We did some more shopping and Luke went with the girls and found his souvenir, a giant stuffed sea turtle. I love that he still loves his stuffed animals and was excited to take home his turtle he would name Maui.
The rest went on to the old sugar Mill and took a tour. Jake was heart broken that it was abandoned. He really enjoyed seeing everything and how it used to be but just made him sad to see it was a thing of the past.
Back at the hotel it started raining again. My parents wanted to give us a night out and they would stay in with our kids and enjoy time with them. They ordered a movie and pizza and stayed at our hotel with the kids. Mark and I went out to dinner back in Lahiana to a delicious restaurant on the water. it was pouring so we didnt really get to enjoy the ocean.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
