Dec 10 Today our agenda was shopping. We started our morning by having a big breakfast at our hotel buffet. Part of our package deal was 2 buffets a day, otherwise we would have had to pay $65/per person for our breakfasts. Things are crazy expensive when in Vegas. Next we had to find a way to South Point ,which is off the strip and out of the main transportation, so we took an Uber. I had not heard of Uber until this trip and Jayden explained it to me. Basically a person gets certified to be an Uber driver and picks you up and drops you off similar to a Taxi, but at half the cost, and you ride in the persons personal car. It is a genius idea and very convenient, but you have to have an App on your phone, sign up to have an Uber come, it took only a few minutes. You can see on your app where the person is on a map en route to getting you. They tell you the make and model of their vehicle and a profile picture. You prepay using paypal before they arrive. They pick you up and drop you off super easy.Without an iphone, none of this is possible. Crazy high tech world! We roamed the shopping area until after 12, then headed for the convention center for even more shopping. It was crazy how many vendors and shopping choices, literally hundreds, maybe even a thousand in all. We were ready to buy and find some cute clothes. We both had been saving up and looking forward to some serious shopping, bargains, and gift buying. After hours of shopping I was beginning to get more and more discouraged. There was a huge variety of clothing, tack and just about anything horse and rodeo related. The prices were high, way high. It seemed everyone marked prices up for the occasion and nobody would budge in prices or had a sale. It was super hard to find clothing I liked, it was either too frilly, furry, fringy, cheap looking, or just outright gaudy. What ever happened to good ol western clothing? So, shopping didn't go so well, but we did have a couple highlights while shopping. Mr. Trevor Brazille was signing autographs. He is the man, the all around world champion for a number of years and the 23 time world champion. He has a line of rodeo gear called Relentless. Although he went and joined the new ERA rodeo circuit this year and was unable to compete in PRCA because of that, he is still the most well known famous rodeo cowboy, and cute to boot. We stood in a 45 minute line, got to shake his hand, get a photo and autograph and briefly chat. Very cool! We also got to meet and get an autograph of Marty Yates, a contestant that Jayden teasingly wishes to marry. He is a young, cute calf roper. That was fun to see him. We asked if he has been to Dayton and he said most definitely. We walked some miles today, rode the monorail back to the hotel. We went to a sports bar in out hotel with lots of big screen tv's so we could watch the rodeo live. We got lucky and had a table with a big comfy couch. It was fun to watch it live from the camera angle. You can see the cowboys up close and personal. Tonight was the last and final of the 10 day rodeo. It was very exciting to see and they awarded the average winners. We moved to another area next to the stage where our hotels live entertainment was. As long as we ordered food every now and then we could stay. We were so full, but ordered dessert. We got to sit and listen to Daryl Singeltary. He is a country singer with a deep voice like Keith Whitley. I like that kind of voice. Jayden actually got so tired that she was ready to go back to the hotel room long before I was. We were hoping to stay and hear Easton Corbin, but she was too tired. We still had a good time and enjoyed our night.
