December Rolls In

Mid week Mark had a CHS conference in Minneapolis. The two of us took off and enjoyed a couple nights away. We drove into the crazy traffic of Minneapolis in the dark and downtown to our hotel. We enjoyed our first evening going out to eat and having a quiet night. Mark spent his day time at meetings and I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted. I walked through the sky walks and found the shopping centers. I enjoyed the shops and bought some Evanka Trump tops. I think her clothing line fits my style. Since I had so much free time to shop, I took advantage of the Macy's personal consultant and had outfits brought to me. It was super fun and I tried on all kinds of things. I bought a few things and the sales were awesome. I had a hard time finding my way back through the sky walks. It is a never ending maze going in every direction! During our stay we had an evening banquet meal. The last morning I sat in my hotel room, did some reading and some blogging. It was peaceful with no distractions or interruptions. The best part, I ordered a pizza room service. Now that was my kinda morning. While we were away, Orrie gave Jayden tickets he didn't want to an ISU basketball game. She invited friends from Cornerstone and they enjoyed the game.
.
Lori had a birthday party at her home in celebrating her 50th. It was a nice gathering and we all had yummy food. I got her some Pioneer Woman kitchen items and she was so excited. I have to admit, I think Pioneer Woman stuff will be at the top of my Christmas list. At the end of the night, Torrie and her boyfriend Jake pulled out the guitars. It is so awesome to hear those two play together. The kids got in on the singing too and they played and sang until we left. That is a rare and lost talent and these two both have it.

Dec 7 Wednesday, we celebrated Marks birthday, by going to Fuji in Ames. I wanted to make sure we got a special celebration  for his birthday before us girls went to Vegas.  The hibachi restaurant has  Japanese chefs cook on a larger grill in front of you. The food is great and the grilling is a show. we ate lunch so late at 1:30 dinner because Mark finished late. We also had to eat our diner early  at 4 in order to get to the evening activities, taekwondo and youth group. It was hard to eat such a big meal not long after having lunch. The waiters sang and hollered for Mark and took a family picture. It was a bit strange celebrating Mark's birthday on December 7th which is also the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese and here we were eating at a Japanese restaurant. Afterward, Jake was excited to attend his youth group because it was ugly sweater Christmas party night. I had to scrounge up a sweater from the good will and it wasn't much. Those ugly sweaters have become quite valuable and hard to find. Now even the stores in the mall are making and selling brand new "ugly sweaters." That just doesn't seem right.  Jake had a santa tie and santa hat to top of his outfit.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
