7/9/16 Today;s IRCA rodeo was in Dayton.
Mark and Jayden have decided that they don’t like the Dayton arena and today I
told Jayden to learn to love it. It may not have the perfect ground, but it is our hometown arena and I love that it's so close. She has not had many good runs at Dayton and
Ace tends to stop her run home short. Today the slack started at 11:00 and I
took Luke and Jayden and her dog Tuff. We arrived an hour early to a sea of trailers scattered
everywhere. With all the slack contestants it was quite a scene. There were
triple the number of trailers parked than when the PRCA rodeo is going on. It
was a hot day without humidity and nice in the shade. The roping took a few
hours. We sat and enjoyed watching in the lawn chairs front and center, Jayden with Tuff in her lap. Luke found Tyson and they ran around together.
Jayden was the 40th barrel racer out of 49 with 15 more to go later in the evening slack. I watched run after run. There were many knocked barrels and many wide. The ones that ran flawless were in the top times, only a few under 16.0. Jayden got Ace close to the gate before her run so he was ready. When it was her turn she pointed him in and away he went. The pattern was set way at the end so it made for a long run to the first barrel and a really long run home. I knew the timer would not be a problem. She ran a great first, second, and third. They were all standing and I knew it would be good and it was! She ran a 15.535, only one time was faster. Shock and awe once again. Grammer and Po were there too and finally got to see Jayden make a smoking run. We truly are living the dream. This is all so unreal. There are hundreds of rodeo contestants competing today. Only a small few will actually place and take home money.IT is such a big deal and such an accomplishment. Jayden is really making a name for herself in the rodeo world. She went from the new rookie to placing and winning at rodeos. Now, to stay humble and be thankful to God through it all and give him the glory is the goal.
