Church and Rodeo

It is Sunday and Luke and I went to church. With all the rodeos, sadly we have not made it to church much this summer. It was a rare treat to have pastor Troy Nesbitt lead our church today. he has been Cornerstone's lead pastor for 20 years and recently left that part of his job in order to take on an even bigger role in the church to be the director of Salt company and the planting of new college churches and ministries in the Midwest! That man is awesome. So for him to be the pastor for a tiny congregation in our little Boone church was a treat. After church Luke invited his friend Alex to come spend the day at the house after we got some lunch and a few groceries. In Hy Vee I had a man of 65+ tell me the dress I was wearing was cute. I found it very funny, I don't know what was funnier getting hit on by a 65 year old or the fact that he said my dress was cute. I also was complimented on my hair. I have had more compliments on my hair in the last year than in my entire life. I must say I am the happiest with my hair, my whole life I have never liked my hair. Now I have it pretty long and I can straighten it or curl it for two different looks and I have to say I think it looks nice. Today Mark, Jacob, and Jayden went to the rodeo in Eagle Grove. This is rodeo number 7 in 9 days. She was in slack again and start time was 2:00. After getting there and parked, it started to down pour. The rain came down heavy and soon the arena was a mud mess. From what they told me, it was deep and it was sticky. They watched calf ropers attempt to tie down and steer wrestlers stick in the mud. Boots were lost in the arena. Mark and I agreed and told Jayden it wasnt worth getting her horse hurt. She drew out and still had to pay entries. It was a haul for nothing, but better safe than sorry.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
