Vacation Omaha and KC

Tuesday March 8 we left for Omaha for a family vacation road trip. Our fist stop was Omaha to the Union Station train musesum in the old town part of Omaha. There was much to see and do there. I could not resist taking photos with the train station statues.
While in town we also went to an aviation museum, children’s museum and western store. The boys enjoyed the aviation museum the most. We got to wallk under huge WWII planes and see many different ones. Some of them were huge bombers.
After two nights in Omaha, we headed to Kansas City and stayed one night at the Great Wolf Lodge. I have a hard time staying at the Great Wolf Lodge because I feel like it is a money vacuum. It feels like they are trying to suck as much money from you as they can. It won’t be long and they will be charging for a towel, inner tubes, and the chair to sit on. If they can find a way to make more money off you they will. It is so overpriced to stay there, in my opinion all the little extras should be included. With the kids getting older, I wanted to go one last time and let them be kids. I reserved a fun kids room with a little built in cabin. It had a bunk bed and a single bed. The boys thought it was great. Jayden felt a little silly sleeping on her small bed, but didnt complain. They all got tye dye wolf ears. I guess there was one thing that was included after all. Luke looked lik bugs bunny with his two front teeth and all his otheres missing.
Thursday at the water park was nice and we enjoyed the lazy river and water slides. The boys really enjoy the giant splash playground. They are mischevious, especially Jake. He goes around and tries to splash innocent people walking by with buckets and hoses. Friday the water park was overcrowded. I made a few laps on the lazy river and decided I would spend the rest of the morning in a chair. That is if I could find one. I only wandered around and waited an hour for a chair to open up. Everyone thinks they need their own chair to sit their dry towels on in case they should need it even though there is a rack with hundreds of towels you can help yourself to at any time. So there sat numerous empty chairs with towels. The lazy river was not too relaxing. It took some waiting just to get a tube. In the water there were more people without tubes than in them. Kids were chasing, playing tag, splashing, and running into you constantly. Not my idea of fun. The hot tub was beyond full as you can see in the photo. Thankfully the had an adult only hot tub too. We checked out in the morning and stayed until 1 and got cleaned up in the shower rooms.
During our trip there was lots of eating out. Jacob is our big eater and he likes the good $$ stuff.
After our stay, we had lunch at Cabelas and checked out the aquariams and mounted animals. Next on the plan was to visit and stay with Mark’s cousin Darrell and wife Lauren and their new baby Quinn. They had wanted a baby for years and went through great measures to finally have one. She was born September 10, 2015. We would be the first of all the Muench relatives to see her. She is an absolute doll. She is the most content little  baby I have been around. She is so happy and just smiles and smiles. She is very alert and bright eyed. I got lots of hold time in and enjoyed it so much. We went out to eat for dinner then sat outside by a fire and made smores.
All day the weather outside was amazing and we didn’t really get to enjoy the 70 degree sunshine. The evening was pretty cool, but it felt great to sit out under the stars by a fire. Darrel and Lauren have a gorgeous house and gigantic at that.  It has 5 bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms. The master bathroom is the size of our bedroom. It is crazy big and very nice. They could have a dozen kids and still have room. They live in a nice area with a good size backyard and lots of neighbor kids. All these big homes today make our little house seem so small. Its easy to get wrapped up in the wants and envy the nice new big houses. I am thankful for our nice home and it suits our needs.
I got up early at 6:30 on Saturday morning with Lauren and Quinn to enjoy her before we had to leave at 9. Lauren is so enjoying being a mom and taking care of Quinn. She is feeling very pressured to get a job and feels like being a stay at home mom is not valued. As much as she wants to stay home, she is looking to take a job. Quinn is so adorable and the baby years are the most precious moments a mom can have. I hope she gets to stay home and enjoy all her "firsts." They waited so long for this little bundle I hope they get to cherish her. A mother's God-given calling is to be a bearer and nurturer of life. Sadly society has forgotten that and does not put a high value on it any more.

Our vacation was filled with so many activities and we enjoyed them all. It was nice to get out and away for a nice family trip. It is a refresher and I feel motivated when I get home.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
