40 days ago on Ash Wednesday Jacob
attended Cornerstone’s youth group. The discussion was about lent and giving
something up and taking that time to reflect on Christ. Jacob came home and
told us he was giving up video games for lent. He had no idea how long lent was
but he wanted to do it. He was excited and ready to take on the challenge. I was so
proud of him. For 40 days he went without video games. It was hard when brother
Luke was in having a video game turn. The video game of choice is Farming
Simulator on the computer. It is as close to farming as you can get while
playing a game. The boys love it and spend all the time I will allow on it. That
being only 1 hour a day, and now I have scaled it back to one hour 3 days a
week. Jake did great and we are so proud of his example and his desire to do it
on his own. He made it, but boy was he excited to get to play a game after
Easter.
