When asked if they would like to attend a Mother and Son dance, my prediction was totally wrong. I figure Luke, who loves to dance would be all over the idea and Jake would think he was too old for something like that. Boy was I wrong. Luke didn't think that sounded like something he cared to do and Jake's response was "Sure." When the day rolled around for the dance, it happened to be an amazing, sunny, and warm day, perfect for being outside. That made for a challenge and the boys really weren't thrilled about spending such a nice day inside. The boys got dressed in their best with sports jackets and all. Luke wanted to wear his cowboy hat and did the entire day. Dad helped the boys get all dressed up.I told the boys how they should open the door for a lady and hang up her coat and pull out her chair. The dance was in Gowrie in the school lunch room. It was well decorated, they had a yummy snack table full of goodies, and a D.J. jamming songs. There were around 20 mothers with sons and I knew a few of them.
The boys had a blast and were so fun to watch. They really get into the music. I would say they were the most entertaining there. They danced to everything. I took turns with both boys during the slow songs teaching them how to two-step. The fast songs they were all over the place moving and grooving. They really have some moves! They did the "Whip, nae nae song. They were jamming to everything. Later it was the limbo and Luke was quite the ham. He would do a little dance and take his hat off as he went under the bar and lifted it over the bar and back on his head each time as he got lower. Lastly, we got to take a walk down the red carpet. Jake had his shades on and really strutted as he walked with me, He got quite a few laughs. We also had a photo session together. The boys had a blast and told me they wanted to do it again. I was super excited to share that special day with my boys. It warms my heart to have such wonderful gentlemen for boys.
