Jayden has been working twice a week at
the grocery store in Ogden since right before Christmas. I think it is the ideal
situation for her. She only works two days a week, hours aren’t too long, and it is so
close to home. The job has not been too hard for her and most days she says
drag and are boring. She sees people she knows or that know us, kind people, strange people, people who are
on food stamps, people on drugs, people who reek of cat pee, people who buy
lots of liquor, and all kinds. It has been quite eye opening for her. She said the store sells more liquor and cigarettes
than anything else. She sees first hand how food stamps are sued and abused. Sometimes her job is not so ideal. Her boss can be a little harsh. One week, he put her down to
work Tues, Thurs, and Saturday. When Jayden talked to him about it he told her
she needed to stop acting childish and spoiled. She told him that I(her mother)
would only allow her to work two days a week and he told her he hired her and
not her mother. Jayden likes many
things that I tell her if she wants it she has to buy. She knows she needs
her own money for many things and is willing to work for it. I am so proud of
her.
