Week 2

Week two of swimming lessons has been just as busy as week one. Along with swimming, Karen and Orrie took the boys every night to a bible school at Bethel church from 6:30 to 9PM. I am glad the boys love bible school. The theme is "Sons Sparks Labs" and the kids got shirts.
The sun has been shinning and temps got into the 90’s. It was so hot along the pool during swim lessons, I had to sit my chair in the shade. I am enjoying watching the boys, they are improving so much!  Monday the farrier came at 8:00 in the morning to shoe and trim 5 horses. Jayden stayed after I left with the boys for swimming. In the evening, I had bible study. Tuesday was the hottest day of the week up in the 90’s. That hot evening we started the ISU jackpot barrel racing. Wednesday the vet came in the morning to vaccinate all horses. Jayden went with Mawgeee, got her hair done and spent the night. She also introduced Grandma to Starbucks.Mark and I took care of the chores and picked more strawberries. With the kids gone, the chores take awhile, theres a goat to feed, a puppy to let run and play and feed, horses on pasture, a horse in the stall, a horse that needs medication and all need grain. Thursday it started out gloomy and rainy with chances of storms. We stayed home and missed swim lessons. Serpentine was also canceled at the last minute. Halleluia I was so glad. I did not want to ride horses in the rain! I also love to have a day to catch up in the midst of such a busy week. I also needed the evening to pack and prepare for the Homeschool conference. Friday and Saturday were the NICHE homeschool conference in Des Moines. Jayden went to a Athletic Training, Nursing, and CPR class both days. She enjoyed her class, is now CPR certified, and met some nice people, one girl she called her twin. I am so glad that she attended. Jake entered a tractor drawing in a contest and it was on display. I like the conference and the chance to look through cirriculum. The speakers are always very encouraging and informative. It gets me motivated for the next school year.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
