Today was our last day to enjoy our cabin at Spring Lake and tonight was our party night. The boys and I slept in after staying in the cabin. Jayden came in the late afternoon and Mark came just in time for the party. We went for more bike rides. We went down by the beach area and Jake rode his bike along the edge of the water, in the sand, just barely getting his tires wet. Luke decided that looked like fun so he wanted to try. I did not know any of this was going on and I looked up to see Luke riding his bike into the lake. Instead of riding parallel to the water, he went straight in. he soaked his shoes and sock and pants to his knees. Grrr! We had lunch, read some books, and played on the beach before it was time to get ready for the party. The party time was 5:00, everyone came between 3 and 4. Both grandparents, Wade, Carina, Alivia, and Alice came. We sat around and visited awhile. I got things ready and had Mark grill brats and burgers. We had an asortment of food that others helped bring. We celebrated Dad and Alice's birthdays. We had cake and sang Happy Birthday. It was a nice evening, warm, but the mosquitoes were biting.
To finish out our party night, we went to the Spring Lake Skating rink. It sits right at the edge of the lake with the sides open. At first the kids got their skates on and everyone watched, including Jayden's puppy Tuff who was along. After awhile the adults slowly strapped on skates one by one. First it was Dad, then me, then Carina, then Alice. The skates are old and worn out, so is the floor. Some areas you feel the ridges in the wood and it is hard to skate. Dad and I skated a song hand in hand, a Daddy's girl. Alice started slow and had to make a couple switches to new skates, but she gave it a spin. I think even those that sat and watched had fun. I know the kids had a blast. Some went and got ice cream down by the beach before heading home. I think the party went well. After much convincing, Mark decided to stay one night. The beds in the loft were full size and short for length. They weren't the softest, but it beats a tent or an air mattress. I just like the whole environment of staying in the cabin in the woods. You could hear the frogs croaking near the lake and it was so peaceful.
