2/6/13 Day 1 of Disneyworld We were up early, 6:30AM. I have an action plan down to the minute when we hit Disneyworld. We didn’t know what
to expect for weather and stepped outside to a nice temperature, a little cool
in the morning yet for shorts, but the sun was out and it was so lovely. This
time we had a great location for our room, we were a short walk to the main
lodge. We were staying at the Port Orleans Riverside. A very nice area along the water. The kids liked the giant water wheel. We had our morning breakfast each day with a variety of choices. Everything
was so expensive. Luke got his Mickey Mouse waffles and we all got mugs to
refill all week. I had everyone ready
and we were getting on the bus by 8:45AM heading to Magic Kingdom. We were a
tad behind, but still got to the gate for the countdown as we were walking in.
Today my parents were to spend the entire day with us in Magic Kingdom.
Miscommunication caused our meeting to be a little delayed. I stopped for a quick photo
right inside the gate of the three kids in their Mickey Mouse shirts.
Our family paced ourselves for Fantasyland once inside the gate. It seemed crowded and lots of people were flowing down main street. My pace was fast and Mark could not keep up. I kept slowing down for him to catch up. We had Luke in the stroller, which we discovered right away was the best thing we could have taken on our trip! The main attraction to fantasyland was not open, so that through a loop in my plans. We went on the Winnie the Pooh ride first. We knew Luke would be unsure of everything and wanted to start with slow easy non scary rides.
After that we met up with Mawgee and Peepaw. We all headed to the Dumbo ride. Luke was pretty hesitant about going on the ride and I thought we were in for a long day. He was ok on the ride as long as we didn’t go up and down too much. From there it was Peter Pan, It’s a small world after all, and then time for lunch. We were getting right through the lines really quickly. For lunch we had to wait in a big line for the Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant, “Be Our Guest”, a newly built attraction. The atmosphere was very unique just like the movie in Beast’s castle…

After our dining experience in Beast's castle, My parents, Mark, and Jake headed to the Haunted Mansion. Jake did not make it on the ride. Once the elevator doors closed and he sat in the pitch dark, he was ready to be done with that. We all went to the Pirates ride. Luke spent the first half holding his hands over his eyes and plugging his ears at the same time, it can be done. He realized toward the end it wasn't so bad. We also hit the jungle cruise ride before taking a break back to the resort. We got some castle photos before heading on.
