One day before her surprise visit, Jayden had to let me in on the secret visit because plans kept changing. Over the weekend Lavern and Verna Mae were celebrating their 60th anniversary. The celebration had already been postponed a month because they both had covid. It took a toll on their health once again. Lavern has been struggling with health issues for the past year. We were able to see Lavern and Verna Mae over Jake's graduation weekend and over Abby's baby shower weekend. Jayden's plan was to surprise visit us down south at the anniversary party, that is until Mark got sick. Mark doesn't handle allergies well and when he gets a head cold all he wants to do is sit in his recliner for days until it's gone. He felt the head cold coming on Tuesday and by Thursday tested for covid. He gets like this several times a year and I am a pretty good judge as to what type of sick he is. He rested negative for covid, just congestion and lots of snot going on. He made the decision not to go to the anniversary. So, Jayden and Noah surprised us at home on Friday 7/22 evening. I knew it and tidied the house, thawed some steak and told the boys to be home cause I was going to fix a big supper. My mom had her class reunion, but my dad was able to come down . We had to time it so he would not give it away. I also had to wait until after Noah and Jayden arrived to tell Karen and Orrie, or it would give it away to Mark. I followed Jayden's progress on an app map as she got closer. I was outside talking to Jake when I spotted the truck coming. Soon, Jake spotted the truck and said, "wow look at that first gen... where's Luke?....Hey that looks just like....wait a minute, that's Shark's truck!1" They pulled into the driveway with hugs all around. Luke had been so tired from working so hard that was in the house taking a nap, something he has never done before. He was in his bed no longer than 15 minutes when Jayden walked into his room and woke him up. He was so confused and happy. Noah and Jayden had flown to Indiana to purchase what Noah called," his dream truck." From there, they made a vacation/trip out of the drive and came to stay for a couple nights. What a great surprise to have her visit. I fixed steak, got sweetcorn and cantaloupe from the local Farmer's Market.
Saturday morning Ali and Titus came and spent the day. Us girls played with Titus while the boys did mechanic things on their trucks at the shop. Titus is such a happy baby, he smiles, coos, babbles, and loves his toys. We had fun with the little guy.
In the evening, we went to Fort Dodge for supper, Mark stayed home. Sunday morning they headed home in the Dodge stopping in Kansas City where Noah found his new furry friend. His favorite dog, Whiskey got ran over earlier this spring. It was pretty terrible and sad. Noah finally said he was ready for a new dog and wanted an Aussie like his last dog. They found the cutest pup and named him Turbo. He rode the remainder making it all the way to Bwood.
