Mamasita

Jayden informed me that in Spanish "Mamasita" means hot mama. I have used the term Mamasita many times at home when referring to myself as mama in Spanish thinking it just means mama. I am writing this to look back someday and laugh, not to be overly confident or self conceited. One Sunday Jake and I were in a store where one of his DMACC friends worked. They waved at each other from a distance. Jake told me the next day in class the boy asked him who the "smoke show" was that he was with. I learned that smoke show is the modern way of saying someone is hot or very attractive. Jake told me his DMACC friends tell him he has a hot sister and mom. Boys being how they are and cruel to one another for fun, ask him if he was adopted. A couple weeks ago Luke and I were in a store when the clerk looked at us and said, “wow you two look so alike. I can tell your mom and son.” Luke was embarrassed and she went on. “ you have the same features.” She could tell he was getting more embarrassed and said,”it’s not a bad thing, your mom is beautiful. He smiled big at that. He really didn’t know what to think. I can count over 100 times that Jayden and I have been told we look so much alike, but this was a first with Luke. Now that Luke is playing football, his teammates see me drop him off for practice and at games. He came home to tell me that his football friends all tell him he has a hot mom. Oh my. I don’t know what to think of that! Yes it is a compliment, but I am over 3 times their age. I thought 13 year old boys were only checking out girls age 13 to 16, not moms!! Luke said it’s a thing.  I watched the homecoming parade with all Luke’s teammates and sure enough, they were saying it to him again. I went to the pep rally and sat on the bleachers top row. Pretty soon coincidentally the whole junior high football team sat in front of me without knowing it.  Luke told me the boy next to him says “Bro, your mom is so hot.” Luke turns to him and said” She’s right behind you.” He laughed so hard and the kid was so embarrassed. This is quite strange for me and I am sure Luke is pretty embarrassed too. Funny thing is, I am wearing blue jeans a t shirt, earrings and no make up these days. That’s the best part  I don't even fix myself up much like many women do.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
