Weenie The Horse, What to do?

Weenie is the most gorgeous horse I have ever owned. He is beautiful and I have always loved palominos. His rich golden color, his long flowing beautiful mane, 4 white socks and a blaze, make him a looker. He is not a huge horse, more on the smaller side. He isn't super smooth to ride and has a fast pace in every gate. We have been working on collection, dropping his head and gaining control of speed in his movement. He is friendly and walks right up to you in the pen, and likes to be caught. He has crow hoped a few times but nothing in the past year. I would say his biggest flaw would be he is spooky and shy's away or bolts from scary things. He snorts at things and wont go near silly things, like a barrel in the arena or the roping dummy even if he sees it 10 times. I tried working on those things with him I even went to a clinic to get some horsemanship advice. Of course the instructor loved my horse.  Jayden had the idea to take him to Oklahoma where she would put some ride

Rick Bob

Ricky Bobby has been such a fun little pup and Luke adores him. He took him to a 4H meeting and did a presentation with him and he just sat on the table so obedient. On a few Friday nights when Luke went to watch the Ogden high school football game, I would take Ricky with me to ride along and wait tp pick Luke up. He would sit in the seat and watch people go by. His tail would start wagging as soon as he spotted Luke and he would wag that tails so hard as he approached. Sometimes Ricky gets to come into the house and sit on my kitchen rug for a short time. Luke sure has enjoyed his little pup.  Ricky Bobby has gone on several short car trips and stayed the week with Wade & Carina while we were in Florida. Alivia has been enjoying Koda, and so has grandpa.

Jake and His Projects

In April, Jake acquired this little red Dodge from a neighbor for a few hundred dollars. He only had it a couple weeks and had it sold making a couple hundred dollars. He gets the biggest thrill out of it. I think he is more excited to see the new owner take it over and the excitement they have in owning it and deciding what they will do with it. Jake had a quick turnaround on his truck, which is great because that means he isn't putting too much time or money into them. He has learned how to flip trucks making a quick buck here and there.     The next truck, a Ford, was a bit of a rust bucket, but had a nice set of tires and ran really well. Jake took it here and there, but in the end it went to the salvage yard for a few hundred dollars. I think he had more fun crushing and destroying it than driving it.     The next truck Jake traded a couple old truck bed tool boxes for a truck from another neighbor. This time, Jake was helping his friend. His good friend David wanted to fix

Mamasita

Jayden informed me that in Spanish "Mamasita" means hot mama. I have used the term Mamasita many times at home when referring to myself as mama in Spanish thinking it just means mama. I am writing this to look back someday and laugh, not to be overly confident or self conceited. One Sunday Jake and I were in a store where one of his DMACC friends worked. They waved at each other from a distance. Jake told me the next day in class the boy asked him who the "smoke show" was that he was with. I learned that smoke show is the modern way of saying someone is hot or very attractive. Jake told me his DMACC friends tell him he has a hot sister and mom. Boys being how they are and cruel to one another for fun, ask him if he was adopted. A couple weeks ago Luke and I were in a store when the clerk looked at us and said, “wow you two look so alike. I can tell your mom and son.” Luke was embarrassed and she went on. “ you have the same features.” She could tell he was getting

To be a football player

Luke has asked to play football since the 5th grade. He had played soccer and wasn't a very aggressive player. In fact he would steer clear of the ball most of the time. He has not been roughed up, at home we don't let the boys push, shove, hit, or rough house. Mark didn't like the idea of Luke playing football, having played himself. He was concerned of all the injuries, concussions, and broken bones. Each year Mark would give him enough reasons not to play. For whatever reason, this year when Luke asked about playing football, Mark said sure. In my mind, I am thinking, why on earth didn't we have him start younger, like maybe 6th grade, instead of one year before high school. Most all of these kids have been playing since pee wee and have been tossing a ball around since they were tiny. Luke has only handled a football a few times over the past few years. I decided I would sign him up for football camp a few weeks before the season. That would give him a feel for it

Jake's Buds

I am thankful for Jake's friends. He hangs out with the boys many days or nights during the week. They like to work on vehicles and sit around the shop or drive around. Jake found an old couch set on the side of the road and brought it to the old shop where he has his little man cave. He has to share his shop with our employee and sometimes that causes a little competition over what goes where. Bo and David are the two boys he hangs out with the most. There are other  boys from DMACC or local that Jake mentions that I have not  met. Jake is pretty good about telling me the things they do, the fun they have and how much they laugh. He is always telling me funny stories. In the spring, Jake had an extra set of keys from the car David bought. Once a week Jake would go to the Ogden high school parking lot, unlock David's car and do something to it. One day he moved it from forward facing to backwards. Another day he moved it to another location in the parking lot. Numerous times h

Harvest Starts

September 21 was our first day of harvest. There has been a trend floating around on social media of farmers with their first day of harvest sign. It is mocking the parents who post their first day of school photos of their kids. Some have a sign saying first day of harvest, age and favorite color. I printed a sign for Mark to hold and was able to be at the right spot at the right time to catch Tony and Mich as well. The first day of harvest was great. Good weather, smooth combining of beans, cleared out a field, and finished around 6. It was a good day. The first week the combine has been rolling morning to night and we are moving from field to field.

Diversity

The modern culture is seeping into the schools and we are seeing the changes. I went to the local school website to look up Luke's football schedule, and this was on the homepage. There is a very big message here being engrained into students and families. "Everyone Belongs", I couldn't agree with that statement more. Everyone does belong, no matter your race, color, size, appearance, religion. However there is more to this lovely sign, the stolen rainbow and what it represents on this sign. The rainbow is God's covenant the promise he gave to us, but that beautiful rainbow has been hijacked and stolen to represent the gay groups. They want to be at the center of all attention and want to be loud, bold, and to flaunt their being different. They want to boast, they want our approval, and they expect us to celebrate them. If we don't celebrate their sin, then that makes us hateful.  It is sad that kids are getting this agenda of trans affirming and encouragemen

Rocking the Sales & Running the Horses

Jayden really is something. She was telling me she was walking to class while on her phone placing large orders of inventory for her business. She not only places orders, she has to deal with the business's sending her the wrong items, low inventory, and back orders, which trickle down to her customers. She deals with suppliers and buyers on a daily basis. She takes pride in getting orders packaged and shipped in a timely manner, or as most would say super quick. She runs her business all by herself from orders, inventory, and shipping. Not many college students run a small business while going to college. She is so impressive. She has had record sales. What used to be a high for weekly sales has become a daily high for sales. She hit her goal early this year at the end of October. November was a record month too. She is rocking it.  She told me that when she reaches her goal she is going to celebrate by taking a many trip, maybe a flight somewhere for the weekend. I sent her flo

The End of a war

American Troops withdraw from Afghanistan with devastating Taliban takeover. EXCLUSIVE: Former President Trump said there has "never been a greater embarrassment" to the United States than the Biden Administration’s "rushed" withdrawal of military assets from Afghanistan, telling Fox News that the U.S. has "an incompetent person as the leader of our country." Trump, in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, reflected on Sept. 11, 2001, calling it a "terrible day in our history," but he pointed to a "terrible week in our history recently." "To have that embarrassment to take place in Afghanistan with the same people who did the damage 20 years ago — it is the greatest embarrassment in the history of our country," Trump said. "There has never been anything like this. It looks like we fled, and it is all because we have an incompetent person as the leader of our country," Trump told Fox News. Trump, who brokered

Saddle Club through the years

In  the spring 0f 2021 we joined the Hamilton County Saddle Club. That was my old stomping grounds as a little girl. I attended many "Fun" shows through the years. This first photo is my favorite. I am piggy back on my dad watching the barrel racers at the saddle club fun show. That was the first of hundreds of barrel races in my future.   It started with my pony horse, Lady. Every little girl wants a horse and my Aunt Alice instilled the love of horses in my. I would sit on the back of her big thoroghbred horse Romeo. I was terrified of him, but I loved horses. Alice also had a mare name Queen that Wade and I liked to ride. After my time on those horses, I was hooked and I want one of my own. ALong came Lady.   At the time I got my first horse, there was a brand called Jordache. I had Jordache jeans and shirts with the brand . So naturally when I got my first horse, I named her "Lady Jordache. My dad brought home Lady when I was 8 years old.  I was scared on her. She
