Bridget and Andrew stayed with us. IT was very different from the last few times they have stayed. They are growing up and changing with the kids of today. Cell phones have been in their hands for several years now. Bridget is only 11. Her looks have changed and with braces she looks and talks much older than her age. She could certainly pass for 14. When I picked the kids up in Fort Dodge, Bridget was all hyped up about her boyfriend and couldn't stop snapchatting and texting him giggling the whole way home. She gushed and told me all about him and how she hugged him goodbye and how she has had lots of boyfriends and on and on. All I could think was you are only 11 and all I could say was, its nice to have lots of friends and don't worry about one boy until you are so much older. Its ok to have several friends that are boys. Her response was I have those too. The kids were on their phone most of their stay. I tried different activities to maybe lure them away from the phones. We did some crafty things and Bridget and i made a cake. They really had no interest in being outside or helping with animals. They liked watching television and playing the XBOX games. I was kind of sad because I know this is the new normal for youth these days. Andrew likes to do whatever the boys do. He is quiet with Mark and I and often times will just shrug his shoulders when you ask him questions. Bridget is starting to do the same. She used to be so chatty and outgoing. Not long after their stay Andrew got a perm in his hair. It was pretty cute and a little wild.
