Our family decided last minute to go a day early to Oklahoma to visit Jayden. Her birthday was Thursday and we had been planning a trip out to celebrate with her. Noah needed to leave to help at a hunt for the weekend and would only be around Thursday. I was really hoping to spend some time with him too, so that was disappointing. We had been planning for months to surprise the boys by taking them to the dunes to ride with Noah. Jayden continually reassured me that would not be a problem. To make sure we got to see Noah and ride the dunes, we left a day early staying just outside of Kansas City. We arrived in Alva around 3 and checked in our hotel where Jayden met us with her pup Sage. She was a hit and we all got some cuddle time. We didn't waste much time and headed 30 minutes to Waynoka and then to the dunes. My parents planned their trip to see Jayden the same time, so they were already in town. Jayden took her White Dodge, that would soon be Jacob's truck, into the dunes so we could watch. The little path that was the entrance into hundreds of acres of sand was the first obstacle. Jayden gunned it and spun and spun. Noah took over and it took him several tries before he got the truck rolling through the sand. I was not enjoying sitting in the back seat with Noah reeving the engine, black smoke rolling out, and tires hopping. All I could think was, there is no way this is going anywhere. It felt like we were digging into the sand and only bouncing and chugging an inch forward. I was worried the truck was going to blow it's engine. It sounded terrible and felt terrible. Noah seemed to know what he was doing. He was calm and acted like it was totally normal. After the truck sputtered and spun, he got the truck moving forward and didn't stop until we were out in the middle of the sands in a picturesque spot overlooking mounds of red sand. We drove about a half mile out, a person could easily get lost out there. Jake got the first ride and Noah took him for a spin zipping and zooming and jumping. It looked so fast and I was kind of scared for him. Noah seems so reckless and wild when he drives anything. Luke was up second and really didn't want to go very bad. He didn't want to chicken out and went as long as Noah would slow it down. He was a little slower and calmer for Luke's run, but it was still a wild ride. I was still deciding, the more I watched, the more I didn't really care to go. Mark was questioning it as well. When we saw the 4 wheelers and Side by side ATV's, they would zoom around the sand, but looked so small and much slower than the Can Am. Noah built his machine and has added loads of mods and a turbo, to make it have power and speed. Jayden said it cost more than his truck! Jayden told me I needed to go, it was a once in a lifetime chance, and she was right. It was a terrifying thrill ride. It reminded me much like that of a roller coaster. We zoomed over hills that took my breath, stopped atop a huge hill with a gigantic straight drop , paused, and then descended. I screamed a lot. Another area was like a bowl and we were zooming sideways and it felt like we could roll. It was a crazy ride. I think Noah thought it was funny and laughed as I screamed and so he did it more. I was all smiles and on an adrenaline rush when I got done. I also had a queasy stomach for several hours after. Mark took the next ride and Noah amped it up quite a bit jumping and going a lot faster. The scary part of it all is climbing the many hills not knowing if someone is on the other side coming straight at you. Jake got one more ride and a wheelie. He went the fastest and wildest with Jayden, doing wheelie's. She is sued to it and enjoys it. I have no doubt Jayden is one of a kind in being able to do that with him. At one point in our joy rides, Noah shredded a belt and had to run and get one. He had quite a time getting the Dodge truck back in. My parents were waiting in the parking lot so they got to see him get back through the sandy start. It took numerous tries, he had to let some air out of tires and struggled to get moving. In doing so, the exhaust melted the wires going to the back taillight and ruined the light. Jake was really worked up as this was now considered his truck. He was upset about all of it. After the thrill rides Jayden had planned to have dinner at her favorite restaurant 40 minutes away in Woodard. Mark& I rode with Jayden and Noah, Mark in front with Noah and his guns. He keeps a gun on each side of the center console and they are big. Jayden and I rode in back with Jayden's pup. Noah drives fast! His driving made me nervous. She was excited for us all to eat at her favorite hibachi restaurant. Unfortunately it was closed, so we found a Mexican restaurant. She got to wear the big sombrero and was sung to. We took a few photos out front before heading back.
