Jayden made the long drive home Monday, Sep 21 to stay for 2 weeks. It takes her a little more than 8 hours to get home. She makes as little stops as possible and goes way faster than she should. It is always a great relief when we hear her truck rumbling in the driveway with the big trailer. She brought her two horses home and settled in for a nice staycation. She told her professors and coach that she would be home to help with harvest. I am not sure how much she really helped. I think in the 2 weeks, she helped me cook twice and rode in the field a handful of times. Mainly it was a vacation time home for her and we were happy to have her! I think she is lonely at school and misses home quite a bit. When she left Alva, Noah had been intensely involved in an event called UTV Takeover at the dunes. Jayden watched him put in hours fixing up and preparing for the dunes. She got in on some of it and watched Noah compete and place in the top of a wheelie competition with his UTV. There was a lot of activity going on in the little town of Waynoka.
9/26/20 Jayden and I were invited to Bridget's 11th birthday party. We met in Eagle Grove at a shop and made bracelets. The bracelets took a couple minutes to make. They were already on the string and we had to pound the letters into the metal washer with the words we wanted. I chose Phil 4:6, my favorite verse, "Do not be anxious in anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God." Jayden chose the word, "Hustle", Bridget chose "Drama Queen" and Ali decided on "Compassion" as her new job is one that she must have compassion for others to do what she does. Bridget had her Grandma Laura, Aunt Devin, and a friend join her also. It was a fun memory for Bridget, a short and sweet little time that we could be part of. Afterward they had other plans so Jayden and I ate Mexican before heading back home.
9/27/20 Saturday the high was 90 degrees, and Sunday was a high of 50. Jayden and I were not prepared for cold and also drizzly. I rode along with Jayden to Denison to a barrel race. We took both Weenie and Joker. She rode Weenie around for awhile. I felt he needed to be hauled and to see more commotion. He has been flinchy and jumpy with me. He was very humpy for her when she would lope him. She would swat his rear when he would buck. She also walked him all over and he would shy away and be scared of every little thing. He is young, came off a ranch, and needs to be hauled. She ran Joker in the open class having a good run and time, however she tipped the second and third barrel. She was happy that he ran fast and had a good time, she just has to figure out some little details. I know she enjoys running Joker more than any horse she has had. He is becoming consistent too.
9/28 We went to Webster City, Jayden got her fingernails done with grandma Mawgee, and then went to Alivia's volleyball game. The whole Wahlert clan was there and we ate out after. Wade and Grandpa finished in the field for the day just before it rained, so it worked out good for them to meet us. Levi was a wiggle worm wild child crawling back and forth across our laps giggling the whole game. Alivia did good with her serves and seems to improve as the season goes. There are so many kids on her team, they have 4 teams of 8th graders. She is in her second year at Webster City.
