We held a party for Jayden to send her off to college in OK. The grandparents and Ali all wanted to get together one last time for dinner before she headed to college. We decided to make a special occasion out of it.
I called it celebrating Blake and Ali's wedding and Jayden's college going away party. Ali has been dying to know what our gift to her and Blake is for the wedding. Mark told me I could tell them, so I took them aside and told them we were giving them the red Tahoe. They were both shocked and thrilled. Blake was beyond excited and Ali said she could cry. I think it will be great for them and so much needed. I hope it will last them many years with their little family.
The perfect ending to our night after everyone went home, we went outside to stargaze. We haven't done that since the kids were really little. We all laid together on a blanket looking into the sky. We had some deep discussions about heaven and out of nowhere, a brilliant comet shot across the sky. It was awesome to say the least. We decided God was definitely speaking to us. Maybe it was a sign for Jayden's future, she is on the right path, a bright one!
Something funny that happened earlier in the week when Jayden and I went mattress shopping. While shopping we met an interesting lady. She was laying on a mattress with a pillow and blanket just enjoying the mattress as if she was in her own home with nobody around. She was cozy reading a book. I found it quite peculiar and yet it made me laugh. She asked Jayden to join her and try out the blanket. Jayden kind of laughed and was a good sport, and sat down. The lady threw the weighted blanket over her and started talking up a storm. She was kind and friendly and we got a kick out of her. She was still checking out beds and trying out pillows when we left the store. The man working couldn't believe how much alike we looked and told me the apple didn't fall far from the tree. We hear these kinds of things often.
Monday we spent the day preparing and packing for OK. Mark did all the hard work and made sure the truck and trailer were completely ready. Jayden helped him, clear out holding tanks, check tires, clean out compartments, wash, and check it over. The truck was fueled, oiled, and washed. We loaded all her extra gear into the front of the Bloomer trailer living quarters. I love the Bloomer trailer, but I hated that she was taking such a large trailer. After dinner and loading Mark, Jayden, and I took a quick horse ride as the sun was going down. We were all tired and hot, but wanted to enjoy one last Iowa ride with Jayden, It was so cool. The sky was pink and purple. I told Jayden God painted the sky tonight just for us to enjoy on our special ride. Maybe he wanted her to never forget Iowa, her home, and the beauty around it.
