Karen, called by the kids, Grammer, has always been a hard worker. I see her working all the time and she does things that should be done by a man. Around her house she does laundry, cleans, and keeps her house always clean and tidy. Her windows are always sparkling clean with the help of my boys. Her windows get cleaned monthly, mine twice a year. She cooks for just about everyone, family, company, friends, farm help, and those who just happened to stop by. She cooks really good homemade large portions with all the sides and fixins in large portions. On Holidays, she makes the huge feast for the entire 28+ family and when the meal is over and all the men are napping or lounging in chairs, she is doing dishes. Grandpa Po is in his chair more and more since his knee surgery, while Grammer waits on him and never stops working. Outside, she did all the mowing until recent years when my boys started helping. She plants tons of flowers and waters them daily, along with her garden with rows and rows of tomatoes, green beans and more. When the tomatoes are ready, she cans many quarts. She cans, corn, tomatoes, peaches, pickles, and apples. She runs the weed eater and picks up all the sticks. She used to run the combine all harvest and quit a few years ago. She continually overdoes and hurts something, back, neck, shoulders. She has had surgery on one shoulder three times, another once, and a knee. She gets a lot of pains in her neck and back, but is never down for long. She is a goer! My kids have helped their grandma a lot over the years and tell of her"stick" she will threaten them with. Maybe I need to get one of those "sticks".
