Valentine's Tooth Trouble

Tuesday evening Jayden complained about her tooth bothering her and gradually feeling worse. She mentioned it when we were back home, but now it was becoming more of a problem. When she headed out on the cruise last night, she told me it was bothering her. I searched the internet and scheduled her a dentist appointment. I was hoping and praying for her that she would be ok until we got back home. Oops nobody wants to visit a dentist on vacation. In the wee hours of the night, Jayden came into our room in a lot of pain. She doubled up on pain meds and made it through. By morning she was very uncomfortable. I wanted to get her first thing and called the dentist, but noon was the earliest. It was Valentines day.  Thankfully we really didn't have anything scheduled, so we decided to go separate ways. I dropped Mark and the boys off at the Edison & Ford Museum on the way to the dentist with Jayden. We were hopeful we would be back in a couple hours, if not they were to take an Uber, which they did. We headed to Cape Coral, a half hour away. They knew it was an emergency and I had hoped they would get her right in. 45 minutes of waiting and an ice pack on her face, they finally called her back. They really didn't appear to have any care or concern and were in no hurry. I was irritated and Jayden was getting more upset by the minute. She was ready to walk out. Not sure what good that would have done.  They took xrays and more waiting. The dentist literally took 2 minutes to check her teeth and more waiting. She had to have another xray of her bad tooth. The xray technician took xrays on all teeth but the one needed. More waiting. The dentist decided Jayden needed to see a specialist and scheduled one in Port Charlotte. Jayden was in so much pain and we had to drive an hour farther. I hurried there. I had hoped they would get her right in. More waiting, another hour. The specialist took one look and another hour wait. It was the longest day and I felt so bad for Jayden. She needed a root canal on her old root canal. They went through her crown and cleaned out the root canal that had become infected. I am not sure how that happens after 5 years. Right across the street was a pharmacy, so I left to get her medication while she was being worked on. Good thing I did, that alone took an hour and a half. Time was not on our side. I bought Jayden a little stuffed animal, it being Valentines Day. I thought it would cheer her up and she would use it as a pillow to sleep on the ride back to our condo. She thought it was a little silly. Mark and the boys got me a dozen roses!
It was late when we got back. It wasn't much of a valentines day. Mark and the boys took an Uber back to the condo and stayed around the pool until we got back. We ordered in a pizza.
Today also turned out to be a historical day, another school shooting. 12 students were shot and killed in a high school in Florida. It was an eerie feeling to know that we were in Florida and just on the other side of the Gulf. So sad and heartbreaking. I chose to keep the news and media away from our vacation time. I knew the basics and spent a lot of time in prayer, but did not want to be let in on the details. I think in horrible times like that, unplugging from media is a must.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
