Thursday- We packed a few things and headed to the beach. We crossed the bridge to Sanibel and spent the morning roaming the beach. This beach was along the ocean unlike our resort along the harbour. There were a lot more people, lots of sea shells, pelicans, and bigger waves. The boys enjoyed catching little fish and searching for conch shells. We did find quite a few, but had to throw them back because they had mollusks in. We had our lunch at a nice fish house. In the afternoon we went back to our pool until sunset. Since we missed our Valentines date, Mark and I went out to dinner at the Marriot next door while the kids stayed in and watched a movie.
On Friday morning, the boys and I went again to Sanibel for a bicycle ride. I looked up information about Sanibel back home and was interested in the bike path. That was one thing I really wanted to do on our trip. Every time I brought it up, Jayden and Mark looked at me like I was crazy. I finally asked if it was ok that I go and anyone that wants to joinsme. We got our 3 bikes rented and spent a total of $23 for a couple hours. That was the cheapest outing of our whole trip. We spent more when we all went for ice cream. It was a lovely day for a nice relaxing and enjoyable bike ride. We biked along the paths out to the beach and around the east side. There were several people out riding bikes. It is the best way to get around the island. The sun was perfect and we had fun, I was glad we went. Luke later told me that was his favorite part of the trip. I enjoyed it too. At the end of our bike trip, Mark and Jayden met us for lunch at a Fish house. We spent the afternoon at the beach and pool. In the evening we went for a round of mini golf.
Saturday- Our last and final day in Florida, our trip went too fast. Aside from Jayden's root canal, everything was so perfect. It was relaxing, peaceful, beautiful weather, warm, sunny, pretty, and so enjoyable. We decided to take the morning and walk along the shops and beach at Ft. Meyers. The beach was busy with people and kids were collecting sand dollars and star fish. We had lunch along the pier while watching shrimp ships. Mark was surprised when his food arrived to have the "whole" fish. We wanted to soak in all the sunshine we could our last day. We stayed on our beach and went to the pool. None of us were ready to say goodbye. In the evening we went across the bridge to Sanibel, had a light supper and ice cream. Back at the condo we packed up for an early morning.
Sunday-Up at 3:00, driving at 4, check in at 5, board at 6, flight at 7, back in Iowa 9:00. Back to life, back to reality!
