Honor Flight

Friday the kids went to ride in semis after school. Jayden has ridden in the semi with Mark 3 times already. They have been hauling corn to Gowrie. In the evening I went to the Hidden Acres Women's retreat with a few of the ladies from our church. It was a nice time and maybe next year I will stay over night. We had a large excellent meal, a time of worship, and a speaker. We talked about the book of Ruth. After that we could do many things, I made smores and cookies. There were crafts, a giant swing, zipline, and the pool. I headed home around 10:30Pm
Saturday the plan was to go trail riding first thing in the morning. The thunder was rolling and it rained awhile. We waited until noon to go to Brushy. This time it was Jake, Mark, and I on Tex, Traveler, and Ace. We got along fine, however the trails were not ideal, very wet and muddy. The horses did a lot of slipping and sliding. We went on a nice 2 hour ride.
Saturday was a big day for my parents. My Dad got to go on the honor flight to Washington DC with a plane full of veterans. 200+ men filled the airplane for the honor flight where they were treated as VIP. They ate good, got to tour areas in DC including the Vietnam Veteran wall. Today was also my moms class reunion she has been working on for months. I took the kids to Fort Dodge to hang out with some friends until we left for the Fort Dodge airport to see Grandpa arrive at 10:30PM.
Jayden and Morgan went to a movie earlier, then joined me and all the boys. I had Tyson (10) and Mason (5), my boys, Jayden and Morgan. We went for supper, played video games at the Fort Frenzy arcade, then went to a bowling alley. The boys were wild, loud, and crazy. They had fun and I tried to tone them out and let them be boys. When my boys get with younger kids, they revert  out of control and act much younger. They feed on each others craziness.
Dave came to the bowling alley and watched the kids bowl before taking his kids on home. My kids and I went to the airport for Grandpa's 10:30 flight arrival. It was a much bigger deal than we anticipated. There was a band, soldiers in uniform, tons of people with flags and signs. We watched the airplane come in and the men's names each announced as they walked off the plane. It was a time to honor, and to appreciate those who served. The 200 men flew to Washington DC early in the morning. They spent the entire day and were flown back. They were treated well with many meals, police escort, and visited sights. When we got to the airport, the boys had their "Welcome Home Peepaw" signs and were up front and holding them high when the plane landed. We were there when Grandpa walked through the rows of people shaking his hand. This was the welcome home that they never received. We all hugged grandpa who was all smiles. He kept saying "What a day." I am glad the kids got to see Grandpa return.
My mom had her big class reunion this weekend. She had been planning it for years and intensely for the past few months. She is an expert event planner. This picture was taken at the Friday activities.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
