First Full Week

9/12/17 Monday started our first full week of school. I am trying really hard to keep a positive attitude, have lots of patience, make it fun and keep it simple.  Luke started back in taekwondo class. It was almost like he never left with all the same kids. I am tired just thinking about all the running, however I think it is good to keep the kids active in activities. At home, it is so easy for them to become couch potatoes and video game junkies. Tuesday after school, I went to Ames to get my hair done. It takes 3 hours to get my hair cut and colored. Once home, I had a horse lesson and Cash came over to ride horses with Jake and Luke. Cash is such a funny kid, he always makes me laugh. The boys rode their horses together pretending they were semis. Mark took Jayden to Maxwell for a barrel race. Wednesday would be the first night of what would become the weekly routine. I headed to Ames with all 3 kids at 3:30, stopped at Overflow Thrift Store and dropped of Jayden and Jake at 4:30 where they would work volunteering for an hour and a half. I went to my chiropractor appointment on the other side of town. Next I took Luke to his taekwondo practice from 5:30 until 6:15. As soon as he was done, I picked up Jayden and Jacob at ChikFilA where they walked and got a bite to eat. From there, I took them to youth group at Cornerstone. From 6:30-8:00, Luke and I get some supper and groceries. Back to the church at 8 to pick up Jayden and Jacob, then finally head for home. Some nights, Jayden will stay until 9:00 for her Escape large group. Does that sound exhausting?  Tonight during the ride home the boys were in the back and got unruly. They kept bickering and fighting. They got louder and angrier. I could only ignore it for so long, when only miles from home I pulled into a gravel road, told both boys to get out and start walking. I told them I would let them know when they could get back in. I made them walk in the dark in front of my car for 5 minutes. They were really quiet when they got back in the car. Jayden was couldn't stop laughing the whole time they walked. It was kind of amusing. Hopefully it was a lesson too.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
