9/12/17 Monday started our first full week of school. I
am trying really hard to keep a positive attitude, have lots of patience, make
it fun and keep it simple. Luke started
back in taekwondo class. It was almost like he never left with all the same kids. I am tired just thinking about all the running,
however I think it is good to keep the kids active in activities. At home, it
is so easy for them to become couch potatoes and video game junkies. Tuesday
after school, I went to Ames to get my hair done. It takes 3 hours to get my
hair cut and colored. Once home, I had a horse lesson and Cash came over to
ride horses with Jake and Luke. Cash is such a funny kid, he always makes me
laugh. The boys rode their horses together pretending they were semis. Mark took Jayden
to Maxwell for a barrel race. Wednesday would be the first night of what would
become the weekly routine. I headed to Ames with all 3 kids at 3:30, stopped at
Overflow Thrift Store and dropped of Jayden and Jake at 4:30 where they would
work volunteering for an hour and a half. I went to my chiropractor appointment
on the other side of town. Next I took Luke to his taekwondo practice from 5:30
until 6:15. As soon as he was done, I picked up Jayden and Jacob at ChikFilA
where they walked and got a bite to eat. From there, I took them to youth group
at Cornerstone. From 6:30-8:00, Luke and I get some supper and groceries. Back
to the church at 8 to pick up Jayden and Jacob, then finally head for home.
Some nights, Jayden will stay until 9:00 for her Escape large group. Does that sound exhausting? Tonight during the ride home the boys were in the back and
got unruly. They kept bickering and fighting. They got louder and angrier. I
could only ignore it for so long, when only miles from home I pulled into a
gravel road, told both boys to get out and start walking. I told them I would let
them know when they could get back in. I made them walk in the dark in front of
my car for 5 minutes. They were really quiet when they got back in the car.
Jayden was couldn't stop laughing the whole time they walked. It was kind of amusing. Hopefully it was a lesson too.
