Second Week in March

Monday on the way to taekwondo class I happened to hear the weather on the radio predicting it could be stormy later. After taekwondo class we walked out to some dark skies and things were looking ugly. The radio was calling for high wind, hail, and we were under tornado warning. I called home right away to make sure everyone at home was aware, which they were not. Jayden had just gotten into the arena with Ace to ride. She ended up getting him put away quick, hooking up the new trailer and pulling it into the arena just in time. The storm cut loose with lots of rain and thunderstorm. I also called the Buhr's, our closest friends that live in Ames. I asked if they would mind if Luke and I came and waited out the storm. Nobody really seemed to know about the storm. Luke and I were starving after taekwondo, so we drove through Chik FilA and grabbed some food. The sky was looking dark and I was flying through Ames to get to my friends home on the west side. The rain had started but we got to their house before all the wind. They were getting ready to eat dinner too, so we all sat around the table and had dinner. It is comforting to know I have friends that I can rely on and I can drop in anytime.
Tuesday we drove up to Rochester to the Mayo clinic for Jayden's first doctor appointments. We spent the night and had to be at the clinic at 7AM, She had lab work first, then at 9 met with an adolescent doctor. He was very kind and thorough. He was concerned for Jaydens low iron count. He wanted her to start physical therapy and to get special inserts for her shoes to help with her knees. He also scheduled more test, one being an autonomic test and one for something know as POTS. He also wanted her to see a rheumatologist, It looks like we will be returning. It is a 3 to 4 hour trip and usually you have to spend the night. I hope the doctors can help Jayden.

On Friday the boys had Spanish in morning. After lunch the Geek squad from Best Buy came to install the new tv we picked out. They mounted a big flat screen 60 inch television on the brick above our fireplace. I have always wanted to flip our living room around. We have had our couch sitting in front of the fireplace for years and facing our entertainment center. Now the entertainment center is gone and we can enjoy our fireplace and it opens our living room up with more space. i really like the new tv. It has all the internet capabilities the call a smart tv. it has apps and streaming from the internet like netflix and amazon and pandora. It makes everything go convenient, maybe a little too convenient. In the evening, Anne came out to do some chiropractic adjustments on our horses.  horses. On Saturday  ISU Won NCAA, a big deal for Iowa. Mark and I went out to dinner in Paton for our anniversary.
Sundays we get together with our connection group. Most of the time it is the boys and I. They love to go and hang out with all 4 of the Graden girls and their buddies. They get to roam camp and run around the family life center gym. Their are 4 families with kids and each week we enjoy supper together. The food prepared by Kristen is amazing. She feeds us like an army. She is in charge of feeding camp everyday all meals all year. She fixes food for hundreds of people at one time. She fixes food for staff daily. She is an amazing cook and to be able to feed so many is quite a gift. We talk about the sermon, our families, and our lives together. I enjoy the fellowship and time together. The picture below is the boys and the youngest of the girls who likes to be by the boys.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
