Jayden's birthday # 17

Birthdays for your kids are always a time to celebrate and reflect on the growing up and changing over the years. However, when they turn 17 you realize your time with them at home is ending soon. All the years of watching them grow and mature, teaching them and guiding them, praying with them and over them. Things are going to change as they begin to enter the world on their own. Of course the praying over them will never end. I only have a year and a half and Jayden will be on her own in this big world. I know God's got this, I know it is in his hands. I know that he has a plan and I trust in him to lead her there. It is going to be hard to let go and see her make her own decisions and go her own way.
Today my little girl turned 17 today. We started the day with balloons in the hallway and Jayden woke to them. Luke and Mawgee were in on that plan. Jayden opened a few gifts from us, one being a halter that was personalized,"2016 IRCA horse of the year". Also a purity ring and a horse photo album.
Jake and I took our 3 kitties plus one stray male cat to the neuter clinic and brought back donuts. Jayden prefers donuts to eating a birthday cake. We watched home videos of Jayden at the age of 2 as a cute, spunky, and funny little girl. She was practicing barrel racing on a stick horse going around three orange cones. In the afternoon she and I took a horse ride down along the creek to the cow barn. It was the perfect day, sunny and 76. This fall has been fantastic weather. I love warm falls. She rode Traveler and I rode Eagle. At one point we were trotting and then a lope. Eagle really wanted to go while I was holding him back. I let up a little on the reins and he blasted by Jayden. She was laughing and videoing when her horse did  a little buck. We laughed so hard. It was a nice ride and the sunshine was so warm. I will miss days like this. I will miss my Jayden when she goes off to college. She has big goals and big plans to leave Iowa. It will be so tough if she goes far away.
In the evening we took Jayden to Texas Roadhouse for a steak dinner, per her request. Both grandparents, Wade, and Aunt Alice came to celebrate. On the way home we picked up Jaydens friend Erica to spend the night.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
