Jake turns #13

11/16/16 Jacob is officially a teenager! He is growing up right before my eyes. He is a sweet boy, hard working, will do anything you ask without complaining, unless of course it pertains to school. He is so talented with is drawing and spends many hours with pencil and paper. He loves his animals and is a softie. He likes his chickens and cats the most. He likes to drive “his truck” that he has taken claim of that used to be his Grandpa Muench’s. He has added his touch with many decals and stickers, air fresheners, floor mats, and décor. He gets so excited when he gets to take his truck somewhere. He is a handsome boy with his blonde hair and dark blue eyes. He has been dressing less like a farmer and a little more trendy in the past year. He likes to wear flannel shirts over a solid shirt unbuttoned. He wears his cross necklace 24/7 and usually a hat. Jayden picked out his first official pair of Buckle brand jeans for him for his birthday. I have been spending $25 to $40 for his jeans over the years and he is still wearing boys size. The Buckle brand of jeans is all about the brand and they cost $80. These will be his only pair until he outgrows them. He looks pretty cool these days. He started his morning with gifts from us, a camo coat, Garfield books, and the Farming Simulator 17 game. The boys could not wait to play the game on the computer. It is like virtual farming and they love it. With Jake celebrated his birthday with his friends over the weekend and with family yet to  come, it was a quiet day. Jake didn’t do school and had an easy day.
11/12/16 Rylie came over and spent the night with Jake for his birthday. The boys ran around the farm, drove the gator, played video games, and watched a movie. The two boys have a good time when its just the two of them. In the morning we went to Mawgee and Peepaw's and Luke stayed the weekend so Jake could be with his friends for his birthday.
11/13 We went to church in Ames, then we took Cademan home with us to hang out with Jacob for his birthday. He is Jake's friend from Cornerstone. We went to El Azteca for lunch where the Buhr’s were going so we all ate together. Back at the house  Rylie, Cademan, and Jake wandered the farm and the shop, climbed on round bales, and rode the gator. Cademan has not been on a farm much at all, so it is always fun to show kids around. Cademan is very kind and polite.  Mark took him home in the evening and Ry.
11/18/16 Friday night we went out for dinner at Hickory Park to celebrate Jake’s 13th birthday and Orrie's 73rd with family.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
