First Week in May

5/6/16 This week in review. It seems kind of a blur, It was not a good week for Mark. On Monday night he got sick and had the stomach flu unable to keep anything down for over 24 hours. At one point it had been 6 hours and he thought he was going to be ok. He sat down at the table for lunch with a piece of toast and had not even touched it yet and had to make a dash to the bathroom. That happened again at supper. Poor guy. He was miserable for 3 days, sore, weak, and ill. We are all praying he will get better and it will not spread.
Monday for school I had the kids start a needle point cross and Luke really took to it. He worked on it numerous times and told me he found his new hobby.
Tuesday Jayden had a doctor appointment and we also had the farrier come and put shoes on 4 horses. Our farrier is nice and fun to talk to, however I still dread standing and holding nearly an hour per horse, and the cost has gotten so high! It’s like buying your kid the most expensive tennis shoes every 6 weeks.
Wednesday . I got the chickens outside in the chicken coop for the first time. In the evening it was the last of the youth groups. Jayden’s small group met and ate at Texas Roadhouse.   I met Angelia for a tropical smoothie.

Thursday was Cinco De Mayo and that happens to fall on Jayden’s half birthday, so we make a point to eat Mexican every year. After some  school, I took the kids to Boone to a Mexican restaurant.  Later the boys helped Grammer plant in her garden while Jake mowed. In the evening Jayden had her 4H horse project meeting. It was an awesome sunny warm evening so I took a long walk while she was in her meeting learning showmanship.

Friday Jayden and I went to the Dayton arena to ride horses and make a practice run. We also bathed horses. The boys left bright and early to go to the Pella tulip festival with Grammer and Po. The sun was shinning and temps got up to 80. Saturday is a whole lot of busy and it will get its own entry.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
