5/7/16 I think I packed about as much in
one day as a person possibly could, soccer, two rodeos, graduation reception, and
dance recital. Whew! With horses loaded and the truck packed for the day, we
were on the road by 10. First stop was the arena where Jayden stayed with her
horse until the rodeo. The rest of us went to Luke’s soccer game. He does a
good job, but stays back and waits for the ball to come to him. He had
determination going in and was trying hard to get after the ball. This time the
other team was just more aggressive and quick. The ball seemed to be in their
possession and goal a lot more.
Next we made our way back to the Dayton arena
for the first of two TMRA rodeos. Jayden had a good smoking run going with Ace,
but tipped a barrel. She would have had the fastest time of the day and won
with her time. She ran Tex in the open and he ran wide. Just yesterday we
practiced and he made a great practice run for her. He just doesn’t seem to
rate on that first barrel. The barrel pattern was also very different from the
norm. The first and second were very wide, then the third barrel was close. It
was throwing some of the horses off.
Once Jayden finished, I took the kids to
Cheyenne and Casey’s graduation out at Hidden Acres. Jayden rode the school bus
with them at a young age. Over the years she has participated in serpentine and
barrel racing with Cheyenne.
From there Jayden and Jake stayed at the arena
with Spillman’s while Luke and I went to Alivia’s dance recital. The auditorium
was packed and Luke had to sit on my lap. Alivia did a tumbling routine and can
do a back walkover. We stayed for about 8 classes. I thought the dancing was
outstanding. I miss the years of dance, now we are attending rodeos and soccer.
With just enough time to drive back to the second rodeo at 7, we missed being
out in a little bit of rain. Jayden’s runs were similar to the one earlier,
another super fast time with a knocked barrel and a normal Tex run. So
frustrating. Everyone wants to see Jayden do well. She works so hard at it and
lately she has been in pain from her joint problems and tired all the time. Jayden
sat on the fence with the girls and watched the bull riding above the chutes.
She texted me that her and Makenna wanted to do the wild horse race. I said no
way and kept telling her no. I told her if her Dad said she could then I would
agree. Never in a million years did I guess Mark would let her! He said yes, so
I was stuck saying yes also. I was not thrilled. The two girls along with
Morgan (age11) were a team. They drew a little white mean pony. Out of the
chutes it double barrel kicked. Luckily all were required to wear helmet and
padded vest. Jadyen held the rope and fell 3 times holding on to the bucking
pony. Finally Morgan hopped on and rode it. She rode a few seconds before the
pony launched her. It was all fun for Jayden and just a few more bruises added
to the ones from knocking a barrel. It was a memory! It was a late one,
midnight by the time I hit my pillow.
