Skating Fun

1/18/15 The week was mild, very cold on Monday, then gradually warmed up throughout the week into the 30’s and even near 50 by Sunday. The weather has been so sporadic all winter and fall. Wednesday Mark & Jacob tagged along with us for a typical Wednesday night. As soon as Luke got off the bus we headed to taekwondo. After that we took Luke to AWANA and Jayden to her youth group. Typically I would then go to bible study, but it has not started up for the semester yet. I have been doing this same routine for a year and tonight was the first time Mark realized what we actually do. He couldn’t believe Luke goes to taekwondo and AWANA in one night. He was in awe of all the shuffling around that I do. It wore him out just riding along. We also eat sack lunches on the way each night. Tonight Mark, Jake and I went out to eat. I felt guilty knowing Jayden and Luke ate sack lunch while we ate out. It was Mark’s pick and we ate at Texas Roadhouse.
Over the weekend, Friday Makenna came and rode horses with Jayden for the afternoon and Jake went with Alex to check traps. Saturday evening we had Alexs and Makenna join us for roller skating in Ogden. Jake had earned a fun activity so he got to choose. We ate at Pizza Ranch in Boone before skating.
The kids had a great time and got better as the night went on. Through the kids talking, they made plans and Jake and Jayden ended up spending the night with Spillmans. On Sunday they watched 2 horses get gelded. They stayed for most of the day. Luke was ok with them being gone and was happy to spend Sunday just with Mommy and Daddy. We went to church and he picked lunch. He has good taste and chose Old Maine in downtown Ames. To end the weekend, we were informed of some very sad news, Karen and Orrie’s new pastor was found deceased in his home. He had been the pastor for their church since September. He was amazing, loved the Lord, and was making every effort to strengthen the church and build it up after so much controversy. He had so many ideas, he was the mind behind planning the area Live Nativity at Christmas. He was planning a children’s community choir. He had visited more people in the church and community then the former pastor had in 5 years. It is so tragic.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
