The kids
were in our room in the wee hours of the night due to thunderstorms. Luke was
pretty shook up. I had him up in the morning getting him ready for school when
I heard the weather forecast. Chances of thunderstorms throughout the day,
high wind, hail, and even tornado watch.
It was already stormy and I was worried he would be scared on the bus. He is in
Kindergarten so missing school here and there is not a big deal to me, so I had
him stay home. He got in on some homeschooling. Jayden helped keep him busy
with worksheets. He was mot concerned about when he would have recess.
Throughout the day we checked the radar and watched and prayed for good
weather because of the evening plans. In the evening Jayden’s church retreat would begin. I didn’t know if she
should go at all or wait until morning. As the day went on, the chance of severe weather kind of decreased and seemed to move out of our area. After volleyball
I took Jayden to Hidden acres where we met the buses full of Cornerstone kids.
It was so awesome to see all those junior high kids getting off 3 buses heading
to spend a weekend glorifying the Lord. Just awesome. I am so thankful to have found
this church and am blessed with the friends, people, opportunities, and greater
knowledge of the word through Cornerstone. I am so glad to see my kids growing
in their faith too. The evening cleared off and the kids had a good night. The
high today 78. In the night the low dropped to 40. Here comes fall. The boys ended up
staying with Karen and Orrie and Mark and I went out to eat.
Over the time at the retreat, Jayden spent her time in worship, prayer, quiet time, with good friends, good food, and fun games. She had so much fun! She got to stay in the bunk rooms above the family life center. She stayed in a room with her 8 small group friends and many others. One night they had a super hero dance and the kids dressed up. I was so thankful all the predicated stormy weather moved on and was not an issue.
