4-H Horse Game Day

The last day of the fair is always a busy one. Jayden was up in the night a few times with her head hurting. The horse was fed saddled and Jayden was riding by 8:30. The show began at 9 with break the gait then egg and spoon. She placed in the top in both classes. In the outdoor arena, they started with poles. That didn’t go so well with Tex darting in on the pattern. Then she ran a good barrel pattern. She had her own fan club with Wahlert grandparents, Alice, Wade, Carina, Alivia, Dad and the boys. Everyone was getting hungry and left to get a bite to eat except Alice. Jayden ran in flags with Tex, she dropped her flag in the first bucket and swooped up to the second. She did it and did it fast.  Her competition ran her first horse slow making sure she got it in the bucket and her second horse fast and missed. I knew it was close, was hoping and hoping, but not sure. And yes, Jayden won the class. I hollered with excitement for her. She was beaming and so happy and so was I! The first trophy in 4-H, the first trophy on Tex and a win. It was so good to see her win and make it worth all the hard work of horses and all the work of the fair. It is such a nice trophy too. When Jake saw her with the trophy he smiled and was so happy for Jayden telling her good job.
The last two classes were keyhole and figure 8 jumping. The jumping class was so cool, Tex jumped pretty good on the run back. We have an awesome picture to show it. The show day was over around 1:30. Jayden and I cooled off and rested in the camper. Her head was really hurting. Soon the cousins were all needing a place to hang out and get dressed in. Our camper was full of girls, dresses, make-up and hair spray in no time. The girls got primped up and went to the parade of champions dinner together. So happy Jayden got to be part of it this year. While they were gone eating, Mark did all the horse clean up and haul home, while I cleaned out the camper. Nothing could leave until 7PM. We watched the parade of champions presentation, then we all headed home exhausted! Jayden was happy to be home resting in her favorite spot with her kitty, and a bad headache.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
