Branson with Grandparents

Trip to Branson Jayden got to go on a special trip girls trip with cousins Jaynie and Maggie with grandparents Grammer and Po. The girls left on Monday June 25th and went to Branson Missouri for a week. On Friday they went to Lavern and Verna Mae’s anniversary party and Sunday pool party. Here is the adventure in her own words. ……

Day 1 – We had a Long, Long Drive. We Stopped at about every McDonald’s, Casey’s, Kum and Go, Sparky’s, and Wal-Mart between home and Branson. The drive wasn’t fun. We stopped at Lexington to look at statues and a JC Penny Museum in another town. When we got to the Cabin it was 103 F outside!! They didn’t have the air on in the cabin so it wasn’t a relief instead it was 98 degrees in the first level and upstairs like 101 degrees. Everyone was really hot. We turned the air on high and dove around a little and it slowly cooled off.
Day 2- We woke up and went to Moonshine Beach first thing in the morning it was super fun. The water was crystal clear so you can see shells rocks and fish at the bottom. We collected seashells and tried to catch the fish with our hands it was fun. That afternoon we went to the show “ Joseph”. It was awesome!!! They used real animals such as horses, camels, goats, sheep, donkeys, and more. The people and animals walked in the isles the whole time and that was cool. The message was great to I loved the whole thing.

Day 3- We woke up and first thing we did was go to moonshine beach. We all got our own goggles so we could see underwater better. We could see the fish now and they were really cool looking. After that we got ready and went to the Dixie Stampede. It was SO cool!!! We got to see all of the horses. I saw one that looked just like Jessie. The performance was great. We ate whole mini chicken, pork, potato soup, biscuits, corn on the cob, and apple pastry. The whole show was like a competition between north and south. There were piglet racing, mini pony racing, flag race with racers on horseback, the chicken chase, log roll in water, little kid stick horse race, and lots more. There was a grand winner and then we all learned the north and south are all one America! It was neat. At the very end when Dolly Parton said that America is north and south etc. Serpentine riders did a pattern with American flags and the top of each flag shot fireworks! The whole time the ladies in serpentine wore big dresses!! The serpentine was my favorite part. They also had longhorns, buffalo, and doves in the show.

Day 4- We went to Sliver Dollar City. It was really hot 108 F! It was still good because everywhere there were sprinklers and mists. We went on water rides the most and just walked around. There was a lot to see. We watched a little circus and a man rode bikes on a tightrope. We went to the webkinz fest and got some free stuff. All of silver dollar city is made up of little shops. It was cool since you felt like you were there a hundred years ago. We made wax dipped roses. It was a super fun time!

Day 5- Before we left Branson, we visited the College of the Ozarks. We had eaten supper there the day before. The college doesn’t charge for classes but you have to work at the college. The campus is all fenced in and like its own town. They grow wheat and have there own mill and bakery. Everything is run by college students. They have a dairy and processing center, hogs, chickens and beef, a butcher shop. They have a pond with ducks and swans. They have there own hospital fire department and police station. They also have a hotel, restaurant, bakery, and ice cream shop. Most of the food from the restaurant is grown or raised on campus. They have Huge gardens with orchards too. I thought it was cool. We left and then headed to Bloomfield and stayed in a hotel. Day 6 The next day we went to Aunt Verna Mae and Uncle Lavern’s. We played in the pool, then went to their 50th Anniversary party.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
