Fall Visit

Friday 9/29 Jayden and Noah arrived late after midnight. Jake brought them home from the airport. Luke had gotten home around 12:30 from homecoming so I was up waiting for everyone.

Saturday morning, Mark asked Luke to help up at the gym with a landscaping project. One of the guys on the gym committee was tearing down some old landscaping stones. Since Mark was in the filed and he needed Jake to drive the semi, Luke would help. He recruited Noah to go along too. Luke and Noah did some hard work, using a sledge hammer, the two of them did all the hard labor pounding the stones. They both had big bad blisters when they were done. Add in the fact that it was super hot at 91 degrees, and Lind and Marva Jean were there with orders and overseeing the project, it was quite the time for them. And, the local carney's that work for the local amusement group came to take all the free stones and haul them away. It sounded terrible and I felt bad that Noah had to be worked on his vacation to Iowa. He was only here 2 1/2 days. Jayden said he would rather be busy than not.

The baby shower was at 3:00. Jayden's request was a small family shower. We invited 15, both Grandmother's, Aunt Lori, Aunt Linda, Cousin Abby and twins Hank and Walker, Libby with Eli and Everly, Jossie with Lace and Kit, Cousin Suzy, and cousin Kallie Mae with Finnley and Colt,  Great Aunt Verna Mae, and Ali and Titus. Jayden planned her time and date around Jaynie who assured her she would be there no matter what. She was in South Dakota for college and was back the weekend before and after. That was kind of sad for Jayden. We had a couple games, some snacks and then gifts. We spent most of the time watching the babies and wrangling them. There was lots of loud squawks and sounds along with a few tears. It felt a lot like a daycare with 10 kiddos in my small living room. She got lots of nice gifts and had a nice time.

In the evening, the guys were home from the field early and we enjoyed a family meal together. I fixed beef short ribs on the grill. Luke and Noah worked on the snowmobile in the shop into the late evening. That's how boys around here keep entertained, by working on things.

Sunday we went to church, then to the Jefferson Apple Orchard. Jayden had wanted to take Noah to a "real" Apple Orchard and Pumpkin Patch. We thought the big one in Cambridge would be too busy and too much walking. Jefferson is much smaller and still fun. Mark and Jake had other things and did not go along. It was a nice afternoon and we enjoyed all the activities and yummy apple cider donuts and cider. I jumped on the giant jumpy pillow with Noah and Luke. It is my favorite and I love jumping on that thing. It makes me laugh every time.

Monday we ate at El Azteca and took Noah to airport. His visits are usually shorter and Jayden likes all the extra time here to soak in family and Iowa. Jayden introduced me to Crumble cookie. The cookies have become very popular and I had my first one. They make different flavors, they are giant, rich, and delicious. They have things like peanut butter cup, blueberry cheesecake, apple pie, oreo for flavors with lots of frostings and toppings. They are also quite expensive! Wow, I wont be getting those often!

Tuesday we went to Karen's in the morning for awhile. Karen made some super cute baby bis for Jayden. Later I went to watch Andrew's football game. I stood with Blake for the game in  which Andrew got put in for the last 20 seconds of his game. I never got to talk to him. Hopefully he was aware that I came to support him.

Wednesday we had an Ames day. This is always a favorite. We get to go together to all Jayden's favorite places, shopping mall, thrift store, and restaurants. She misses the town of Ames and all it has to offer. It has always been my favorite town for many reasons. Grandma Mawgee went with us too and we had a Hickory Park lunch. Jayden got ice cream since she is eating for two!

Thursday I went to bible study while Jayden canned pears with Karen. The pears were given to them and so much work for not very good pears. I got in on a little of it and the pears were hard and bitter. Jayden's time always goes fast visiting, but we all enjoy it.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
