ER

We had quite a scare on 12/22/23, just 9 days post delivery.  Jayden and I had planned to start making Christmas cookies and candies, something she requested and was excited to do. We got our chocolates melted and started dipping out peanut clusters. Noah's grandma randomly showed up to see Colt. She held him close and talked not stop to him in Spanish. She would have held him all day. She seriously wanted to take him for awhile. Bale, Chris, and Izzy stopped in too. Jayden scooped Colt up and was going to head upstairs when she looked at me with big eyes and said, I need to go to the bathroom right now. Then she yelled she needed my help. She looked at me with uncertainty and said I just wet my pants. She handed me Colt thinking she peed her pants. When we both looked down, she was bleeding. Panic set in with both of us. It was so unusual that anyone to be at the house that time of day, just minutes before, nobody was there. I am so thankful for the timing of everyone being at the house. We yelled for Bale to help her to the hospital. Jayden immediately called Noah, and told me to stay with Colt. Noah was at the shop and jumped on a dirt bike and flew over so fast going through the tunnel, he was here as they were about to leave. He was shook, we all were. Thankfully we were a short distance to the ER. However we could have driven to the border by the time they did anything for her at the ER. Noah and Bale rushed Jayden in, only to be told told to be seated and wait. Bale demanded she get seen and a room. Her and Noah waited and waited. I was gathering things for Colt not sure if I was going to take him to the hospital or stay at the house. I was shook and crying trying not to think of the worst. I stopped and prayed, then went to my prayer warriors at church and then told family to pray. So many things were going through my mind. Ester and Bale stayed at the hospital for a few hours. Mari came to the house to sit with me. I held Colt in my arms. I fixed up a 4oz. bottle for him at 3 and he drank it all. Thankfully Mari was there to help with the diaper, we had poop going everywhere. That made us laugh as we tried to keep from making a mess. Mari held Colt for a good hour. Jayden was texting and calling giving me updates. They were observing to see if the bleeding would stop. They wouldn't let her drink a drop or eat. She was so thirsty and of course dehydrated, so had a terrible time drawing blood. It was probably around 1 when she arrived at the hospital. Eventually a doctor saw her and did an ultrasound. They found that part of her placenta was still attached. My first thought was how? When Mark has a baby calf born, that is the first thing he checks. He thoroughly makes sure everything is there and nothing retained. That was not a mistake that should ever happen in modern hospital care. She needed surgery and it would only be under light sedation. It was good they figured this out, had she not bled  heavily and went about her days, she would have gotten infection, really sick and could be really bad for her. It would have been hard to pinpoint later on and she would have been sick and in pain.

I fed Colt a bottle again at 7PM. I was determined to get him good and awake and have him stay awake for a long time. he had slept so much during the day, I knew he would be up so much in the night. I worked and worked. I fed him a whole 4oz. bottle. One of his burps, he spit up down the front of my shirt. Then, I was trying to change his pants without a mess and he peed up and all over the bed. The little squirt. Cynthia, Ester, and Bale all sat with me for a long time and brought me food. I hadn't eaten since breakfast. It must have been around 6:30/7 when Jayden went into surgery. I asked if they would pray with me and I said a prayer.  Everyone had different opinions about Colt going to the hospital, I thought his mama should decide and Jayden was very clear she wanted him with her.  It was around 8 when we took Colt up to the hospital and saw Jayden. She looked so good considering all she had just gone through. She was happy to have Colt in her arms, the best medicine. Izzy snuck Noah's game system in so they could continue their nightly game time. I kissed her and Colt and gave Noah a hug and went back to the house for the night. Praise God she is ok and will be fine. What a scare she gave us all! What a wild day. Thank you Lord she is ok!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
