Bridal Shower and Back to TX

On Tuesday evening Dec 27th, we had Jayden's rescheduled bridal shower by Grandma and Carina. We had to reschedule due to the crazy weather. Grandpa helped assemble the backdrop Carina brought consisting of multiple pallets. I felt it was a lot of extra work for Grandpa. It's always interesting at events like graduations, showers, etc., that certain people you expect will be there don't come and people that you wouldn't expect to come do. It was a great turn out and Jayden got lots of really nice gifts. There were around 30 people, a mixture of friends, family, and relatives. Some guests that traveled far, my Aunt Jolene and Uncle Duane came from Des Moines and plan to come to the wedding. Alison, a barrel racer that rides in our arena came. Our neighbor who is a flight attendant came and got Jayden a pink suitcase. Sue B and Amanda P came and got Jayden the nicest Myra Clay pottery. Cousin Libby and both her kids came as she was busy with them. Everly is always on the go and Eli is only a couple months old. Ali came straight from work and had a long drive back. Jossie, Aunt Linda, Aunt Lori came and of course Mom, Carina, and Alivia. Carina and my mom did all the preparations and planning. Carina had gone back to Minnesota to be with her mom and family and made a special drive back for the evening shower and then planned to be back on the road at 5 Am to drive back to Minnesota the next day. She is always the first to show up and the last to leave and makes sure every detail is covered. She pays attention, is creative, and keeps things super clean. My mom is also the creative one and thinks of all the little extras. She put a lot of time and thought into making it special. I am so thankful for their help and work in making a special day. We had walking tacos for the menu along with fruit, cookies, and donut holes. With the cousins seated by Jayden, Ali got very emotional and felt sad she is not a bridesmaid. It changed the feel of the night and Jayden and I were sad. Of course Ali was sad and understandably so. I knew it would be hurtful to her and we hoped that including her as personal attendant would make her feel special. We had lots of helpers at the end loading the Tahoe. With the gifts all in the Tahoe, Jayden and Noah were packed for their return. On a funny note, during the shower, the guys went out to eat. While sitting with Jake, Luke, and Mark; Noah got asked if he was single by a waitress. I think that was embarrassing, awkward, and comical for both Noah and Mark.

12/28/22 Jayden and Noah left at 7AM. For a wedding gift, we gifted them our Chevy Tahoe! It is a great vehicle and something Jayden can drive with her packages and enjoy a smaller vehicle. They flew to Iowa and now would drive it back to TX. They had packed everything the night before and were ready to hit the road. It is always sad when Jayden leaves and her brothers feel it too. Jacob seems to be the most sad when she goes and talks about it a lot after she leaves. He loves having her close as we all do. It takes a couple days to get back into the day without Jayden's presence. She just keeps everyone in a good mood and brings joy to the day. She truly is a rare and precious gem. I may have had a good cry just missing her and knowing she will be making fewer trips home. She's not just off at college anymore.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
