Shopping Isn't Fun

I used to look forward to a little time at the mall shopping. It was kind of a happy place. My last outing to the mall I had to get a couple new bras. I dread going into the VS store for many reasons, but it is the only place that has bras I can comfortably wear.  I've tried buying online, but I have to see and feel and try on, so I made my annual stop. Reason one why I dislike the store is the array of raunchy inappropriate teeny things on the mannequins. I have no good words to describe what they are. They don't cover the areas that you would think you would want to cover. Now they cover all the area except for that area. Seeing mannequins wearing them is gross and now we have them on super sized heavyweight mannequins. Ugh. The second thing I dread about the store, seeing young hormonal high school boys walking hand in hand with their girlfriends helping them pick out panties and such. Gross. To make it even more horrifying, I saw a couple pink and purple hair rainbow gals shopping together. At this point I am about to lose it and go without buying a bra ever again. On this day I finally had my purchases anxious to check out and be done. While standing in line to pay there was a hysterical child around the age of 3 crying in his stroller. He was literally hysterical. I thought he was having some kind of separation anxiety attack as he was screaming for his mom even though she was standing there completely calm on her phone checking out her purchases. I had never seen a child look so distressed and terrified. I thought he must have been through some type of trauma to get so hysterical. Then I realized what was the cause....  as the mother slowly handed the phone back to her son and started up his show. He instantly stopped crying and happily zoned out into the phone. It was shocking. What on earth are we doing to these small children and how can we raise them like this?  We are creating little ADHD mind stimulating screen time overloaded monsters. Kids don't have imaginations and creativity, they don't know how to be quiet and patient. They don't know how to sit without being entertained. I wish we could go back to pre-internet, iphone, social media days. My mall outing was a glimpse of our modern day society and I am not impressed!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
