Habits of Grace

I am in a bible study called, "Habits of Grace."  Mathias writes, "The Christian life from start to finish is utterly dependent on God." It is about how we as Christians can grow in grace and knowledge. How do we do that? God is the word and to hear his voice is to read his word.  Matthias writes," God's word informs our minds, inspires our hearts, and instructs our lives." We have to slow down and take our time letting it soak in. Timothy 3:16 All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. First we read scripture, then we are to meditate on it. Meditation is the link between bible reading and prayer. This is something I don't spend a lot of time doing. My brain is always thinking of the next thing. I think we all have a little ADD in our lives and more so now than ever. With television shows, the internet, and cell phones, our brains are constantly craving to be entertained. We really need to quiet our minds and meditate silently on God's word. Think about what we read and letting it dwell in us. I have a terrible time quieting my mind and focusing. I recognize it and want to do better. Writing, journaling, typing these words keeps me focused. It is the best way to keep me on track. Next is memorization, to read God's word and store it in your mind to have it ready for praying, studying, remembering, reciting to oneself, and sharing with others is a way to be prepared. It gives us wisdom to discern. Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. I am not good at memorizing, in fact I have a hard enough time just remembering things in general. It is not easy for me and it takes a lot of practice, but it can be done. It also takes repetition over time so that it stays in my storage.

Matthew 12:34 "Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks." If we fill our hearts and minds with good and God's word, we will speak in a loving manner lifting others up and being a light in a world filled with darkness.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
