We had so much activity going on this week. We were enjoying lots of entertainment and had a little VIP treatment on a few occasions. Here is a re-cap. THe Farm Progress show stared on Tuesday and ran until Thursday. Mark and Luke went on Tuesday and Jake on Wednesday. Then on Wednesday evening, Mark was given VIP passes to a Lee Brice concert at the Farm Progress show. I joined Mark and Luke making a stop under the Salford tent for a chat and photo op with the Larson Farms and Farmer Laura. Both are YouTube creaters with big followings. I guess in this modern sociala medai era, they are called famous. It is hard for me to get all carried away over the You Tube creators. People waited in line each day all week to get an autograph and photo. The mom was sitting on a golf cart, so I visited with her for awhile. She was lovely to talk to. Mark also visited with the CEO of Salford and learned that he is the largest Salford private Sales Rep in Iowa. Now that is a big accomplishment! With our concert passes, I loved getting to be under a shady tent on a hot evening and have unlimited ice cold drinks and a buffet line. The food was great, prime rib, sides, and desserts. The tent had around 25 people and was hosted by Golden Harvest We sat in lawn chairs that we got to take home with us. I ran into a college freind who was under our tent also. Dana was an Alpha Gama Roh rhommate Little Siter with me at ISU/. We sat and chatted most of the concert. It was super fun catching up with her. The concert was an interesting mix with the lead in band looking and sounding like Kid Rock. Lee Brice was more on the redneck side that what I like, but I did like and rrecognize many of his songs. It cooled off and the sun was going down by the time the concert ended. That made for an amazing skyline and some awesome photos. I enjoyed seeing the equipment as it waqs getting dark on the way out without all the big crowds and hot sun.
While at the Farm Progress sho, Mark scored 4 tickets to the Iowa State football game including tailgate party and VIP box seats! Yes and yes! A few fun facts about ISU. The Jack Trice stadium seats 61,500, with an average of 60,704 fans per game, they have hillside seating and VIP bok seating. The first game was played in 1975. It was dedicated and named after Jack Tice in 1997. HE was the first African American student athlete who died tragically from his second football game in 1923. A 60 million dollar update took place in 2014 and a 90 million dollar center in 2021. When I hear numbers like that, I have to say that the IUS college students enrolled in the university are there to support the football team. I think sports are great, but I think the money that goes into the football program's are beyond extreme. I still enjoy a football game on a nice day. It isnt the same without Brock Purdy on the ISU team. I loved watching him the pasy 4 years, He was a great QB and made the game more fun to watch. I wasnt complaining and had a nice time. We had a meal under the tailgate tent before entering the VIP seating. It was great! We had our own room with about 16 other people, Mick and Angie joined us with our 4 tickets. I also ran into my college roomate, Heidi!
Sunday was chruch in the morning and Dayton rodeo by night. Ali was super anxious and excited to have Titus at his first rodeo. She had been talking about it for months and got him a cowboy hat and boots, which he only wore both that day for about an hour. Titus was pretty cute in his outfit. He amazes at how he gets tired, Ali cuddles him and he falls asleep. The rodeo crowd was loud and even the loud bomb went off. He only peeked his eyes open and fell right back asleep. He is such a good baby.
