Luke interviewed in January at the 4H extension office and was chosen for the Intermediate awards trip. It is based on the interview, record keeping, and 4H participation. He told me during his interview that he was quite confident he did awesome. I think he kind of enjoyed it. Things have changed a bit since Jacob's award trip. Jake went to Minneapolis for 3 nights and went to all kinds of places. Luke's trip was one night in Minneapolis and they tried to squeeze in so much into a small time frame. They got picked up in Webster City by a greyhound bus that took them to the SPAM museum, Mill museum, the Mall of America, and a Twins baseball game. Luke boarded the bus not knowing anyone going. Right away he made friends with my childhood neighbor Grant's son Ryan. I think he had a really good time on the trip. One thing Luke noticed during the trip was the amount of gay pride flags and brochures and signs at the museum and the mall. I just don't understand why it has to be at museums and places that shouldn't be pushing it. Luke had two girls that liked him and were mad at each other because they realized they both liked the same boy. One girl he stayed in touch with over text for a few weeks after the trip. I am glad he got to be part of the trip. His Junior award trip to the Omaha zoo was cancelled during the pandemic.
