Graduation Reception

Jake's graduation party went great! Everything looked great at the shop. Grandma Connie put in a lot of thought and time into decorating and personalizing things. We had old toy trucks and tractors here and there and then old oil cans and shop containers on some tables.   His party started at 4:00 and people started slowly flowing in. Jake would greet families as they came in the door, having them sign either his jenga blocks or his car door or both. They would then walk along the pictures and paraphernalia and finally through the food line. The food consisted of Lindie and Julie's catered barbeque pulled pork and shredded beef. I also had bags of chips and fruit.  Karen provided the beans, we also had Williams made cupcakes and Hidden Acres chocolate chip cookies. I did my best to make it a self serve line so nobody would have to serve. This time we did not run out of anything.  At 5:00, a good size line had formed and we ran out of seating.  I wanted to seat more around the smaller tables, but someone told me the extra chairs would be too crowded. Oops.
Jacob had a great turn out and really enjoyed it more than he ever thought he would. He had friends show up and he enjoyed greeting and visiting all the people that came. It was so neat to see so many friends, family, and neighbors all turn out. There are always people that you are surprised they came and those you expected that didn't come. We had such a great turnout it could not have gone any better. I got to see and talk with so many people! Mark and I always wish that we could spend more time with each person. One of my friends asked me, "Who are all these people?"  We invite lots of relatives, friends, some neighbors, people from the churches we grew up in and the current church, a few couples of each of our parents friends, and anyone that Jake would have wanted to invite. We sent out 100 invites. The ping pong table was a hit, especially for the cousins. Noah was here for the big celebration and met lots of people too. His time here with Jayden was short and sweet. Jayden and Noah are sure a beautiful couple, so photogenic! Below is a photo with my good friend Jessica and also my great niece Lace.
It was close to 9 when we closed up and everyone headed home for the night. Jayden was exhausted and half sick from allergies but still went with Noah and her brothers up to cousin Jaynie's campfire. I think it is great that the cousins plan time to do things together.

The previous weekend we went to Rylie's grad party. We got some photos of the boys in their cap and gown and a nice family photo. Can't believe these little guys are all grown up and graduated!

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
