State Champions

I attended 5 football games to watch Rylie and his team make it all the way and win the state title for 2A champs. What and exciting win for these small town boys. I was so glad I took the time to watch it unfold. The first game I went to, I was blown away at how good the team was and how exciting their game was. I had a feeling it would be a big season for the team, but I didn't realize how big, I just knew I didn't want to miss it.  Each game they played was exciting to watch.  The playoff game on Nov 5, was another exciting game and  close to the very end. The Jags had a good lead and were looking to pull off another big when, with under 2 minutes of the game, the other team scored a touchdown, and then another. All of the sudden the win was about to get stolen if the Jags weren't careful. It was an intense game down to the final second. 34 to 28 was the final score, the Jags were going on to state to play in the big UNI dome. On Saturday morning  Nov 6 we watched the SEW Jags take on Wakon. It was an exciting game and SEV was impressive! There were so many good plays, tackles, interceptions, runs, catches, you name it. I had so much fun watching their team with so many talented players. Rylie was the kick off return, so didn't get to play much, but he did get a couple good tackles in under the dome. Jake went with us for the first state game and Luke went to both. Jake was happy to experience the UNI dome and seeing the boys play at state, but take it or leave it, he didn't care to go back. There was a huge fan base driving over 2 hours to the dome. No matter what gas station you stopped on on the way, there were SEV parents and families. It was great to see so many fans from the community that came out to support the school. It almost made me wish we were part fo the public school, but that feeling went away rather quickly. Times are so very different than when we were in a small community school.  Luke, Mark, and I returned to watch SEV win the state championship game over West Lyon at the dome on Nov 19! It was awesome!

For first time ever state champions, this team made history. Coach Swieter was voted Class 2A coach of the year, Kolson Kruse was named MVP overall in all classes! I know that he was a friend of Aaron back in middle school from Ogden. He and Arron were such close friends and they played several sports together. Kolson's family moved to Gowrie just so their son could play sports with Aaron. I guess it payed off! Aaron, who I am a family friend of his mom, and a young man that grew up in our church and in AWANA, received honors and will play in the All American bowl in Texas.
His sports career is just beginning, there will likely be lots to come. he plays basketball, wrestles, and does track. He has a bright future and has signed on to play at U of I in the fall! Go Aaron!
The first trip to the dome we left bright and early, apparently the boys were on the tired side and caught some zzz's on the way. We also celebrated Jake's birthday with lunch on the road with Grammer and Po.

Volleyball

Jake  went with Karen after school and to the field. My mom, Luke and I went to Jayden’s  Volleyball game in Coon Rapids.  They played 4 games all losses. They were not having a good serving night and that really hurt them.  Still enjoy watching them learn.

Treasures

In the morning we took 3 of our 4 cats to the vet for shots. The 4 th cat decided to wander this morning missing his appointment. On our way out, we passed a rummage sale and stopped. We got some major treasures for next to nothing. The church ladies were so fascinated with Jacob's interest in old radios and televisions. They just adored him and marked the prices way down and gave him some for free. We loaded up on kids books, got some board games, and a few other treasures. Jake ended up with a mini  television , an old radio and Polaroid camera. After lunch the boys went straight to the field. My friend Carolyn and her daughter Tabby came to ride horses. What started out to be a chilly day 45, turned out nice and sunny. We had coats on, but it was a great day to ride. We rode through our hay patch and along the waterway near the highway. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Dayton Fun Show

It has been cold and windy for the past week, highs of 45. Today the sun was shinning and it got up to 60. There was one final horse show for the season at the Dayton arena. We took Jayden and Jacob while Luke went with Grammer and Po and was supposed to come later. It was a fun show geared for practice and the kids. Jake did really well on Winnie, he rode in walk and trot, barrels, and poles. He did some loping. Jayden did pleasure, milk can, barrels, poles, and a jumping event. Her horse Tex really jumps high for the jump event. Down in the arena, there was'nt any wind and the sun came out. It made for a nice day.
