The Dufur wedding weekend took place near Kirksville Missouri. We were all excited that Jayden and Noah would be driving up for the wedding too. I reserved two hotel rooms, one for the 3 boys and one for Jay, Mark and I. We were all missing Jayden, even though I just saw her, I was glad to soak in more time. While they were making the 7 1/2 hour drive, the rest of our family met in Bloomfield with the Anderlik's, Bob & Dorothy, Boyd & Jeanie, and Karen & Orrie. We were celebrating Karen's birthday and supporting Kyle and Abby with their home raised beef served right at the restaurant. I am not sure who was most proud, Orrie, Melinda, or Abby & Kyle. It was a big deal for them. We met up with Jayden and Noah around 10PM at the hotel. Noah was pretty quiet. We visited a couple minutes before calling it a night.
Saturday Cousin Suzy invited us to her new home for lunch. Her kids, parents, and families, along with the Ferrari's were there also. Her house is so neat, I love it. Each room is decorated and furnished with a country decor, my style. I like everything about it, the kitchen cabinetry and the amazing floor to ceiling windows and country view.
Preston and Karley's wedding was held March 27th in a lovely barn venue. The barns have been a popular wedding destination in our families. The wedding was set up at round tables for both the wedding and the reception. The venue was decorated and elegant with pretty flowers. Aunt Lori arranged two gorgeous floral arrangements on top of whiskey kegs. The wedding had a uniqueness starting with the flower "boys". Apparently there was a you tuber adult male that scattered flower petals being funny and the video went viral. Taking off from that, two guys around 19 with mullets, had their fanny packs full of petals and flung them into the air as they strutted along. I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe. The wedding was nice with Karly walking down in her lovely dress. The backdrop was something the couple made using barn wood from Preston's family barn and a wooden cross. It was really neat. The bridesmaids wore a moss green color dress and walked down the isle one at a time, Chelsea wore a special unique off white dress as the maid of honor. The Groomsmen each wore a brown vest with jeans and boots and walked down one at a time starting with a very tall skinny younger guy. As each groomsmen walked down the isle, they got bigger and hairier. The last guy was very large, round, and had a thick long beard. I found it a little comical how they were in order of size and hairiness. I wish they had posted photos with the wedding party. They had 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen. Preston wore a peach colored vest. After the ceremony, the wedding party took a few photos while others visited. After some time, the wedding party was ready to make their grand entrance, and that they did! The music came on and each couple came down the aisle while being announced. The music was blaring with some inappropriate language and each of the groomsmen had a can of beer in their hand. By the fourth or fifth groomsmen, he had a bong and bonged a beer. I was in complete shock. That is the kind of thing you would see at a fraternity party, not a wedding. The guys were rowdy, load and chugging their beers as they all came in. It was quite a scene. I had to wonder what the grandparents and older generation thought. It was so elegant, yet redneck. The food was good and the reception was definitely more drinking than dancing. With a 5:00 wedding, 11:00 was a long time to be there with little dancing and a lot of drinkers. It was a long time for the boys too. Luke found someone to talk wot with Zach and Rylie. Jake and Noah went and messed with Noah's truck. A lot of the relatives never really left their table, so it was hard to socialize. This was one of the most bizarre and memorable weddings I have attended. The couple didn't post many photos of the wedding, only 5 photos of them as a couple. None of them showed them looking into the camera, so I added an engagement photo. There was a beautiful post of mother of the bride Karla and sister of the bride/maid of honor Chelsea and I did manage to take one with Karley dancing with her Grandpa Lavern.
We got a family photos and a fun one when Mark teased Noah and got him laughing. You never get that guy smiling on camera. The next morning we attended the gift opening and breakfast. There were some problems in the kitchen and with the food getting done. Jayden and Noah didn't stay long and we gave hugs before they left. The time with Jayden was too short, but she will be coming home after the semester before long.
