The first homeschool ski day that we could attend was on MLK day. The previous homeschool day was cancelled so Luke was eager to ski. Knowing many kids had the day off for MLK day and the weather was looking to be prefect, I expected a big crowd. I never expected the huge crowd that turned out. What seemed even crazier to me was all the people wearing masks while standing "outside" in the line. We had our masks around our neck, but not exactly on. The ski hill required them while standing at the chair lifts. We wore our turtlenecks. The kids and I arrived a little before opening and saw the line that twisted around outside for a long wait. We waited over an hour and a half. I was so thankful for the sunshine and beautiful weather that made the wait tolerable. It was upper 30's and sunny. With 4 people left in line in front of us to enter for ticket sales, they stopped the flow and waited to take inventory. We had to wait 20 minutes while they counted remaining skis and boards. At that point it was all about size. If they had your size in boots, you were good to go, if not, you were out of luck. I couldn't' believe it. There were still so many people in line!! We were fortunate to get our rentals just fine. It was the busiest day I had ever been. The lines were long and the hills crowded. With it being so close to Luke's birthday, we decided to make this day part of his birthday by allowing him to invite a couple friends. He invited Tyson N and cousin Alivia. While we were waiting in the long line, Alivia snuck her way up to the ticket sales to get a mask and conveniently asked if she could get her lift ticket. She got her ticket and rentals and hit the slopes. She also had a friend that met her on the hill. The kids had a fun time. The boys tried out snowboarding and had many falls learning. Luke got better as the day went on. It was fun to watch them. Jake and I both stayed with ski's. I think Jake was a little bored having to spend his day skiing with ol mom. He was a good sport.
